I can't confirm that. Oneiric does not include the scim package by default,
installing it completely disables quick find in every applications.
The reported issue only affects nautilus, everything else is working as
intended.

1-2.) Happens on a live cd too, just open a folder with more than a few files.
(Just found out that sometimes the problem doesn't come right up with folders
containing only a few items.)
