[Bug 551201] Re: New Evolution Stable 2.30 for lucid

2010-07-08 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
quoting http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/maverick/alpha2:

 Evolution was updated to the 2.30 version, which operates much faster
compared to the version in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

finally, we're going to get an official 2.30 version in 10.10 :-)

[Bug 145278] Re: [gutsy] getting Error Printing: Too many failed attempts error when printing through GtkPrintOperation

2007-10-19 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
well, the bug became too annoying to me, and I finally got around to
hunt it down to a simple integer-64/32bit-truncation bug...

sprintf was using %lu (on powerpc sizeof(long)==4) on a 64bit integer,
which on little endian has the simple semantic of taking the lower 32bit
word, but on big-endian powerpc it takes the upper 32bits of the 64bit
datum, which is going to result in a 0 length for the usual print
requests...

...can we get this fix in gutsy plz? :)

to sum it up:

printing to file (either pdf or ps) works, since it doesn't get sent via
IPP

I haven't found yet(? -- see below for gedit)an application, which uses the gtk
printing API and does not fail to print via cups;
applications which I have tried so far:

gtk-demo
evince
evolution
eog
gnumeric
epiphany

except for gedit, which seems to be able to print; but I'm not sure which
printing API it uses, since the printing dialogs looks/feels different from the
applications listed above; maybe it uses the gnome printing API?

[Bug 70666] Re: Messed up page settings when printing a calendar

2007-04-10 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
Iirc I could workaround by printing it to pdf, and then feeding that
directly to cups (via xpp or plain lp) and telling the paper
orientation...

alas I can't test it anymore, since I installed feisty whose evolution
doesn't seem to have the ability to print landscape calendars at all...
:-(

[Bug 103256] Re: [apport] evolution-2.10 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_get_data()

2007-04-10 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
yes, printing works better---no segfaults so far :-)

but is it only me, or did evolution/gnomeprint lose the ability to print
landscape calendar views? it did work in edgy and dapper, but with
feisty I don't see the orientation option anymore anywhere in the print
dialog... :-/

[Bug 103262] evolution segfaults when trying to print calendar ([apport] evolution-2.10 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_get_data())

2007-04-05 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

this is a follow-up to Bug #103256

a similar segfault happens when actually trying to print a calendar; so
far this happens on both ubuntu feisty boxes I have, regardless of
whether it's a newly created evolution config, or an old one containing
many appointments;

printing calendars worked with ubuntu edgy

[Bug 59060] Re: Invest applet renders incorrectly

2007-01-03 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
well I took a look at the code and the changelog, and found out for some
questionable reasons, the behaviour was changed from displaying the
numeric worth of all investments to a color-trend based on the worth
change...

but looking at the code itself revealed, that the calculation seem
rather broken:

in the code below, the lines in the iterations should rather read like

  var = row[updater.VARIATION]
  now = row[updater.VALUE]
  start = now - var

to make more sense imho... also the color-scale sensitivity might be a
candidate for the preference dialog, as it might need considerable
(relative) worth-changes to cause a noticeable color change, depending
on the investments done...

(from
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-applets/trunk/invest-applet/invest/widgets.py?view=markup)
class InvestTrend(gtk.Image):
...
def on_quotes_update(self, updater):
start_total = 0
now_total = 0
for row in updater:
# Don't count the ticker only symbols in the color-trend
if row[updater.TICKER_ONLY]:
continue

var = row[updater.VARIATION]/100
now = row[updater.VALUE]

start = now / (1 + var)

portfolio_number = sum([purchase[amount] for purchase
in invest.STOCKS[row[updater.SYMBOL]]])
start_total += start * portfolio_number
now_total += now * portfolio_number

day_var = (now_total - start_total) / start_total * 100
color = int(2*day_var)
opacity = min(0xFF, int(abs(127.5*day_var)))
if day_var  0:
color =
COLORSCALE_NEGATIVE[min(len(COLORSCALE_NEGATIVE)-1, abs(color))]
else:
color =
COLORSCALE_POSITIVE[min(len(COLORSCALE_POSITIVE)-1, abs(color))]

self.set_color(color, opacity)

additional note I forgot:

row[updater.VARIATION] seems to return the absolute change, not the
relative change in percent

[Bug 42937] Re: streams are stoped

2006-10-05 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
I'm not sure if this the same bug, but I have problems playing the
following streams:

http://listen.fm4.amd.co.at:31337/fm4-lq.ogg
http://listen.fm4.amd.co.at:31337/fm4-mq.ogg
http://listen.fm4.amd.co.at:31337/fm4-hq.ogg

they all play for a few seconds, and then for some reason the stream
stalls, tries to rebuffer and nothing else happens

I've tried those URLs with totem as well, and they had a similiar
result; seems gstreamer related...

[Bug 59060] Re: Invest applet renders incorrectly

2006-09-27 Thread Herbert V. Riedel
btw, in a screenshot from the author's webpage, it seems the applet is
supposed to create a 'total' summary of all stocks (which it doesn't
right now in edgy):
