[Bug 2020782] Re: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails

2023-06-20 Thread Ignacio Casal Quinteiro
About the following issue we can definitely take a look at it.

> - Xdcv is reporting a bogus refresh rate

That's an Xdcv bug which is probably also intentionally a design
feature. I think it should be fixed in Xdcv because this design will
break other compositors like it has broken mutter. Technically correct
compositor behaviour would be to render at 0Hz, which would not be
usable ;) So Xdcv probably should be changed to avoid the same problem
occuring in other desktop environments.

[Bug 41427] Re: slow keys can turn on surreptitiously cause confusion.

2013-06-12 Thread Ignacio Larrain
I consider myself an experienced user and had a very hard time figuring
out this. I have had this problem many times, and the only solution I
figured out until now was to reboot.

The problem is Slow Keys are being enabled in GDM even though I'm long
ago logged in, and that anti-feature should be controled by Gnome-Shell,
not GDM once logged in.

By the way: this bug and bug #758335 are very closely related.

[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file

2012-12-17 Thread Ignacio Martin Rodriguez
@Dario, I completely agree with you.
This feature should be added to nautilus in the same way OSX implements it, not
the windows way. It would even be touch friendly.
This is one example of the reasons why people critizise gnome devs. This is not
about people asking for features and not contributing, but rejecting people's
contributions because they think to know best what users need. Even removing
features has been a gnomish feature for so long.

[Bug 804985] [NEW] U3 Flash drive hangs Ubuntu when right-click on desktop icon

2011-07-02 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Public bug reported:

I think the problem is related to how the drive is recognized. In Ubuntu Natty,
nautilus recognizes U3 drives as software and freezes all system trying to
open it. I suggest that the U3 software is not recognized and just is treated
as a single USB Flash as it makes the whole system unusable.
I follow this steps:
 - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive.
 - try o unmount/extract it
 - Ubuntu freezes/slows badly until I remove the drive (just deataching it from
the netbook usb port)

Also Ubuntu freezes in this scenarios:
1) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive.
  - right-click on desktop icon.
2) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive.
  - Open Places Computer. Double click on the U3 Drive.
3) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive.
  - Double click on the U3 Drive icon on desktop.

The drive is unusable under Ubuntu even as a standard flash drive, if
you try to do anything from the desktop icon (right-click, double-click)
then will freeze nautilus, the gvfs daemon and notification modules got
100 cpu usage until the device is removed by deataching it from the usb
port.

Under Arch with GNOME 3 this does not happen. The device is just
recognized as a normal usb flash drive and U3 system is ignored
completely. Did not test it in other Ubuntu versions.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 771884] [NEW] Rhythmbox Audio conversion from CD can only be played correctly on Rythmbox

2011-04-27 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Public bug reported:

I've converted some audio from a CD I own to OGG format. Then I've
transfered this audio files to a player (Palm TX with pTunes V5). The
thing is that these audio files can only be correctly played on
Rhythmbox. In any other player like WM, WM Classic, pTunes, sometimes in
Totem; the audio got cut in some parts, got passed to the next song
(like it is empty) or even get an error message (Invalid format in WM).

I' certain it is the way that Rhythmbox converts CD tracks to OGG, I
don't have this problem when I convert the same audio with Asunder for
example. Discarded the possibility of a corrupted SD card cos reading it
form the SD Rhythmbox is able to play it but other players just don't
(or plays some cut parts).

I'm not sure if I can (due to copyright) upload two samples of the same
track converted by different software. Please let me know about this
issue.

TIA

[Bug 766490] [NEW] [Natty-Beta2] Turning off laptop monitor turn off both monitors (laptop and external) on Vostro 3500

2011-04-19 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Following instructions for testing external monitor on a laptop in
http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Hardware/GFX/ExternalPrimary
the resolutions of the external monitor are not detected properly. When I try
to change them, also the Laptop Screen flickers and changes sizes (with same
image option disabled, of course).
Worse is when I try to set the external monitor to be primary (by turning off
the laptop screen), both screens turn off.
My steps:
# Plugged external monitor
# Go to Monitor in the Unity launcher.
# Both screens are detected.
# Tried different resolutions and more or less some of them worked (there where
some resolutions external monitor isn't capable of).
# Selected Laptop monitor and switched off, click apply.
# Both monitors turned off and had to wait for the 30 second dialog to restore
the last configuration. I was hoping the laptop screen to turn off and the
external monitor be the primary.

Then tried the switch screen har-button in this laptop (Fn + F8) but it
triggers a super key instead (like the win logo).
Afterwards Compiz crashed (Bug #766496).

Re: [Bug 762018] Re: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key

2011-04-18 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
I meant, the USB drive you inserted. Was it the one where you created
the iso image for installing Natty? I've done that (on installed Natty
Beta2) and the nautilus doesn't pop up a window. In Maverick happens the
same. If you insert a bootable media then nautilus won't pop up a
window.
Try to use a different USB flash drive or format that one and put a
bunch of files in it. It should pop up a window then.

Hope this is helpful

[Bug 762018] Re: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key

2011-04-17 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Carla, have you tested this with the Natty Live USB disk? If so, Ubuntu
won't open a nautilus window automatically. It opens a nautilus window
when you insert a regular data USB drive. I think this is made on
purpose so you won't mess around with a bootable drive.

I did this:
 # Testing the same case as Carla, inserted the USB drive from were I've
installed Natty-Beta2. The drive is mounted, the icon of a USB Flash drive
appears on desktop but no nautilus window poped-up. I can open it by double
clicking on the desktop icon.
 # Unmounted Natty LiveUSB.
 # Inserted another USB Flash drive. This containing regular data (non-bootable
drive). It was mounted, USB Flash drive icon appeared in desktop, nautilus
popped up a window showing drive's content.
 # Unmounted flash drive.

I've tried this in several ways: inserted on different USB ports both
separately, inserted both flash drives simultaneusly and always the same
result: only the non-bootable drive pops up a window.

 log in.

3.- Click your own user name in the upper right corner to go your
 personal Launchpad page.

4.- In the column titled Participation (on the right) click on Bugs.

5.- Click on Advanced Search under the search textbox. Scroll down and
unmark the option Hide duplicate bugs. Then click Search.

6.- Look for the bug you reported yourself. If you didn't change the
summary while reporting, it should say seahorse-agent But it may
be different. In any case, it shouldn't be very difficult to find.
(Hint: look for the bugs with the greater bug number.)

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click Unsubscribe on the right
 column.

[Bug 184440] Blue hue in all videos

2008-01-19 Thread Ignacio Martin Rodriguez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Since I've upgraded to Hardy, all the videos are bluish when they're
played with totem.

This behavior occurs always with totem (totem-gstreamer) but only from
time to time with VLC (specially after having played it with totem).
This makes me wonder if the bug really concerns totem only.

I'm using totem 2.21.5, nvidia driver 169.07, and xorg 7.3

Re: [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2007-11-27 Thread Ignacio Lago Fontán
Two things:

1. The problem is not in gedit, it's in SAMBA (smbfs) over CIFS
2. Priority Low? There is no way to have an hybrid network with this
problem. A windows 2003 as server with CIFS is more than usual in many
companies nowadays. It's a very big syncronization/data loss problem for
desktop users, administrators and automatic applications/scripts.

A fix is a must IMO.

2007-11-27 Thread Ignacio Lago Fontán
As Laurynas Batkus said it's present in Eclipse too. At work I've reproduced
the error everyday. I can reproduce the error with Gedit, Geany and Eclipse.

At work I'm using Gutsy, the server is a Windows 2003 Server with all the
employees folders and a shared space. In my case a total of 4 mounted
(smbfs) CIFS filesystems with authentication. No sshfs at all.

I know format of the comments does not conform to the requirements of a bug
report. The problem to report it in such format has been that I never get
any messages of error or bug, so as layman in Ubuntu I don't know how to

What information should I post to make it a bug report?
Thanks and good luck

[Bug 134559] Re: [gutsy]Cannot login to Gnome after previous logout

2007-09-11 Thread Ignacio Toledo
Hello,
I am using Ubuntu Gutsy tribe 5, up-to-date. When I start my gnome session, I
have no problems. But when I logout, and try to start again a gnome session
from the GDM, the background screen of the GDM will be displayed for about 15
seconds, and then back to the gdm login screen.
I thought this had something to do with xserver-xgl, but after removal I have
the same behavior.
I have KDE also, but the problem doesnt apply when using kde session.

[Bug 127591] file-roller doesn't open folders if you go up one level

2007-07-22 Thread Ignacio Martin Rodriguez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

When I open a compressed file with a top level folder, I can double-
click on it and browse into it. But if i go up a level again, and
double-click again, the folder won't open. This happens also with any
folder anywhere in the compressed file. If you go up a level, you can't
open it again by double-clicking. This behaviour is quite odd.

** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2007-06-28 Thread Ignacio Lago Fontán
It's NOT a Gedit bug. It's a Samba (cifs-protocol) bug. The same result
using Geany, Vim and Eclipse working with files over CIFS (Windows 2003
Server). All of them applications with file-changes detection.

The issue is reported in several forums and lists:
http://www.nabble.com/multiple-problems-moving-up-from-smbfs-to-cifs-t3884792.html
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3551
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4076

For people working in a mixed net (linux windows machines) over a
Windows 2003 file-server it's a BIG issue. Very very annoying. I work as
app/web developer using Eclipse, everytime I save a file I have an alert
when I write something The file has been changed on the filsesystem, do
you want to overwrite the changes?, then I choose Yes/No, then
another alert The file has been changed on the filesystem. do you want
to load the changes?. If reload latest changes (after save) will be
lost.

Everytime you save, everytime you see the alerts (even if you only
change to another application and back after save). Think about it
working in a project, saving and testing every code change.

Severe impact on professionals/developers working with Ubuntu over
Smb/Cifs file server.

[Bug 86905] Re: [Feisty]Deskbar-applet crashed when I login in Gnome

2007-05-03 Thread Ignacio Martin Rodriguez
It still doesn't work for me. It seems it was a Tracker bug:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403752

But it seems it is fixed in the SVN version of tracker.

[Bug 54204] Re: gnome-keyboard-properties bug

2006-12-13 Thread Andrés Ignacio Martínez Soto
Hi, now I've got Ubuntu 6.10 with Gnome 2.16.1 and KDE 3.5.3 , and still having
the same problem.
The problem begins when I see a dialog in Gnome telling me that the
configuration of the Keyboard (with Gnome) doesn't match with the Xkb settings;
and I have to choose to continue with Gnome keyboard settings or to switch to
Xkb keyboard settings.
If you choose to stay with Gnome keyboard settings, ALL the KDE applications
will run with a bad keyboard (when you enter a eñe or something with accent
{à,á,é...} it does display another character)

Here is a demonstration:

KDE Correct word
Eñe - Eñe
ValÚncia - València
Català - Català

I've tried to change settings in KDE control center, but stills failing.

The outpout of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
is:

 layouts = [es  cat,es]
 model = itouch
 options = [grp grp:alts_toggle]
 overrideSettings = true

Salutations, thanks

[Bug 54204] Bad keyboard language on Ubuntu 6.06 and Gnome 2.14

2006-07-26 Thread Andrés Ignacio Martínez Soto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I've installed

language-pack-es - translation updates for language Spanish
language-pack-ca - translation updates for language Catalan
language-pack-gnome-ca-base - GNOME translations for language Catalan ...
and some others language packs from spanish languages
{Euskara,Catala,Asturianu...}...
After then, I noticed the keyboard was not mapped correctly (I was programming
in bash when I noticed), then go to gnome-keyboard-properties to see whats with
the keyboard distribution. I found that Basque was choose, so I've tried to
change it to Spanish, when I changed, it remained in Basque, all other
languages except Spanish work correctly.
Then I've looked at locale, that was correctly [EMAIL PROTECTED]. After that,
rebooted Xserver Xorg, and test keyboard with GDM, then noticed that keyboard
works correctly in GDM, so get logged into Gnome session to confirm that, but
still in Basque distribution.

My PC is an AMD XP 2200+ with Ubuntu 6.06, Gnome 2.14 and all security
updates to date, my keboard is a Logitech Itouch in spanish variety and
QWERTY-ES.

Thanks, I'll try to change language to Spanish to see if bug stills.
I think that's a bad mapping of the XML configuration files.
