[Bug 2020782] Re: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails
About the following issue we can definitely take a look at it. > - Xdcv is reporting a bogus refresh rate That's an Xdcv bug which is probably also intentionally a design feature. I think it should be fixed in Xdcv because this design will break other compositors like it has broken mutter. Technically correct compositor behaviour would be to render at 0Hz, which would not be usable ;) So Xdcv probably should be changed to avoid the same problem occuring in other desktop environments. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020782 Title: Xdcv: Changing display scale setting and reverting it fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/2020782/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

@Dario, I completely agree with you. This feature should be added to nautilus in the same way OSX implements it, not the windows way. It would even be touch friendly. [Bug 804985] [NEW] U3 Flash drive hangs Ubuntu when right-click on desktop icon
Public bug reported: I think the problem is related to how the drive is recognized. In Ubuntu Natty, nautilus recognizes U3 drives as software and freezes all system trying to open it. I suggest that the U3 software is not recognized and just is treated as a single USB Flash as it makes the whole system unusable. I follow this steps: - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - try o unmount/extract it - Ubuntu freezes/slows badly until I remove the drive (just deataching it from the netbook usb port) Also Ubuntu freezes in this scenarios: 1) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - right-click on desktop icon. 2) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - Open Places Computer. Double click on the U3 Drive. 3) - Insert an U3 Usb flash drive. - Double click on the U3 Drive icon on desktop. The drive is unusable under Ubuntu even as a standard flash drive, if you try to do anything from the desktop icon (right-click, double-click) then will freeze nautilus, the gvfs daemon and notification modules got 100 cpu usage until the device is removed by deataching it from the usb port. Under Arch with GNOME 3 this does not happen. The device is just recognized as a normal usb flash drive and U3 system is ignored completely. Did not test it in other Ubuntu versions. Thanks in advance. [Bug 771884] [NEW] Rhythmbox Audio conversion from CD can only be played correctly on Rythmbox
Public bug reported: I've converted some audio from a CD I own to OGG format. Then I've transfered this audio files to a player (Palm TX with pTunes V5). The thing is that these audio files can only be correctly played on Rhythmbox. In any other player like WM, WM Classic, pTunes, sometimes in Totem; the audio got cut in some parts, got passed to the next song (like it is empty) or even get an error message (Invalid format in WM). I' certain it is the way that Rhythmbox converts CD tracks to OGG, I don't have this problem when I convert the same audio with Asunder for example. Discarded the possibility of a corrupted SD card cos reading it form the SD Rhythmbox is able to play it but other players just don't (or plays some cut parts). I'm not sure if I can (due to copyright) upload two samples of the same track converted by different software. Please let me know about this issue. Re: [Bug 762018] Re: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key
I meant, the USB drive you inserted. Was it the one where you created the iso image for installing Natty? I've done that (on installed Natty Beta2) and the nautilus doesn't pop up a window. In Maverick happens the same. If you insert a bootable media then nautilus won't pop up a window. Try to use a different USB flash drive or format that one and put a bunch of files in it. It should pop up a window then. [Bug 762018] Re: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key
Carla, have you tested this with the Natty Live USB disk? If so, Ubuntu won't open a nautilus window automatically. It opens a nautilus window when you insert a regular data USB drive. I think this is made on purpose so you won't mess around with a bootable drive. I did this: # Testing the same case as Carla, inserted the USB drive from were I've installed Natty-Beta2. The drive is mounted, the icon of a USB Flash drive appears on desktop but no nautilus window poped-up. I can open it by double clicking on the desktop icon. # Unmounted Natty LiveUSB. # Inserted another USB Flash drive. This containing regular data (non-bootable drive). It was mounted, USB Flash drive icon appeared in desktop, nautilus popped up a window showing drive's content. # Unmounted flash drive. I've tried this in several ways: inserted on different USB ports both separately, inserted both flash drives simultaneusly and always the same result: only the non-bootable drive pops up a window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762018 Title: nautilus does not open on inserting usb key -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
Two things: 1. The problem is not in gedit, it's in SAMBA (smbfs) over CIFS 2. Priority Low? There is no way to have an hybrid network with this problem. A windows 2003 as server with CIFS is more than usual in many companies nowadays. It's a very big syncronization/data loss problem for desktop users, administrators and automatic applications/scripts. [Bug 134559] Re: [gutsy]Cannot login to Gnome after previous logout
Hello, I am using Ubuntu Gutsy tribe 5, up-to-date. When I start my gnome session, I have no problems. But when I logout, and try to start again a gnome session from the GDM, the background screen of the GDM will be displayed for about 15 seconds, and then back to the gdm login screen. [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
It's NOT a Gedit bug. It's a Samba (cifs-protocol) bug. The same result using Geany, Vim and Eclipse working with files over CIFS (Windows 2003 Server). All of them applications with file-changes detection. The issue is reported in several forums and lists: http://www.nabble.com/multiple-problems-moving-up-from-smbfs-to-cifs-t3884792.html https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3551 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4076 For people working in a mixed net (linux windows machines) over a Windows 2003 file-server it's a BIG issue. Very very annoying. I work as app/web developer using Eclipse, everytime I save a file I have an alert when I write something The file has been changed on the filsesystem, do you want to overwrite the changes?, then I choose Yes/No, then another alert The file has been changed on the filesystem. do you want to load the changes?. If reload latest changes (after save) will be lost. Everytime you save, everytime you see the alerts (even if you only change to another application and back after save). Think about it working in a project, saving and testing every code change.
