I can confirm somewhat similiar behaviour with my gnome terminal. It
tends to corrupt when I change from another virtual desktop to another.

Rhythmbox (0.93) crashes, if it can't open radio stream given. The
program must be shut down via kill or similiar.
On 0.95 port found in backports (not in repos, in comments at
launchpad), the rhythmbox just crashes silently in this case.
How
Using unofficial repo providing most recent rhythmboxes (deb
http://www.elisanet.fi/mlind/ubuntu dapper main) the problem is gone, so
maybe this is fixed in 0.96.
Anyway, the Dapper Rhythmbox 0.93 still crashes.
