[Bug 1870794] Re: Update for Unicode 13
The Emoji font was updated for Ubuntu 20.10 which will be released later this month. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-noto-color-emoji/0~20200916-1 Someone might backport this update to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. [Bug 1871791] [NEW] Update to Unicode 12.1 release
Public bug reported: Google has released a new version of their Noto Emoji font. I don't believe this requires a freeze exception since we should do these updates if possible so that emoji display correctly in Ubuntu. For more details, see https://blog.emojipedia.org/google-march-2020-pixel-feature-drop-emoji-changelog/ If we don't take this particular update, the biggest downside will be that emojis show up as separate parts. For example, the gender neutral health care worker will appear as two characters (adult and the medical symbol) instead of as a single character. https://emojipedia.org/health-worker/ However, we will also need an updated Pango for those new combined emoji to display as a single emoji in apps using Pango (such as GTK apps). https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/pango/-/commit/06aab3539f4a15a2ae3977d715e82035ea5b32d7 ** Affects: fonts-noto-color-emoji (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Jeremy Bicha (jbicha) Status: New ** Tags: focal upgrade-software-version -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to fonts-noto-color-emoji in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871791 Title: Update to Unicode 12.1 release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-noto-color-emoji/+bug/1871791/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1848156] Re: Update gnome-terminal to 3.34.1
** Tags removed: apport-bug ** Tags added: upgrade-software-version ** Tags added: rls-ee-incoming ** Description changed: Please update to gnome-terminal 3.34.1 (or .2) for eoan. Or, at least, cherry-pick this trivial fix: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome- terminal/commit/2cbc9e6b9be7f4d6b2d92b40e37ec687d36ce98d A change in GTK triggered a bug in Terminal causing a pretty bad user experience. A fullscreened terminal under Wayland doesn't retain its fullscreen status at certain operations, such as opening/closing a second tab, or zooming. Opening a second tab actually further grows the window as the tab bar appears, so that the bottom 1 or 2 text rows become invisible (out of screen). This issue was fixed in 3.34.1, along with two other minor issues and many translation updates. 3.34.2 brings another translation update only. Ubuntu usually aims to ship GNOME x.y.1. I assume there was no particular reason for not updating GNOME Terminal to .1 in this cycle, other than probably lack of time. The extension ID is supposed to be unique. It is a serious bug if NG is using the same extension ID as an existing extension. I imagine the maintainers of extensions.gnome.org would remove an extension for that issue if it was reported. Until that bug is fixed, I don't think Ubuntu has any responsibility to attempt to block the broken extension. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846871 Title: Desktop Icons NG shell extension breaks Activities vew To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1846871/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1846871] Re: Desktop Icons NG shell extension breaks Activities vew

[Bug 1846871] Re: Desktop Icons NG shell extension breaks Activities vew
Does this bug affect the vanilla GNOME session or only the Ubuntu session? If it only affects the Ubuntu session, it is probably just a compatibility problem between Ubuntu's desktop icons extension and the "NG" extension. Since the "NG" extension is newer, I think it's appropriate for the "NG" extension to not break systems where the official desktop icons extension is already installed. [Bug 1813813] [NEW] rhythmbox zeitgeist plugin is broken
Public bug reported: I have heard reports that the rhythmbox zeitgeist plugin is broken. It may need to be ported to Python3 since other parts of Rhythmbox (like the Alternative Toolbar) are already using Python3. If it does use Python2, then it probably needs to depend on libpeas-1.0-python2loader If the Zeitgeist plugin is not fixed, it will eventually need to be removed from Ubuntu. [Bug 1771031] Re: Please remove libgnome and friends from Ubuntu
** Description changed: libgnome has been removed from Debian Testing and will not be included in the Debian 10 "Buster" release. We should do the same. If we do it now, maybe some projects will do the needed porting work away from libgnome (porting to gtk3 is probably needed) in time for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or Debian 10. Users who are hurt by these removals can keep using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS for a few years. resapplet and winefish are unmaintained and aren't in Debian. linsmith is in Debian and will be either ported to gtk3 or removed eventually, but I don't think Ubuntu needs to wait for that. This bug depends on these other removals: - gnome-python LP: #1739800 + DONE: gnome-python LP: #1739800 DONE: gnome-sharp2 LP: #1771025 DONE: shutter LP: #1771030 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771031 Title: Please remove libgnome and friends from Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-vfs/+bug/1771031/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1812378] Re: Search provider of gnome-terminal does not work in gnome-shell
I believe the Terminal search provider only allows searching the titles of open terminals and command line prompts and maybe a bit more.
