While on battery power, I'm observing that screen brightness misbehaves.
The machine is an ASUS 1000HA.
I manually push the brightness down all the way using Fn-F5. I am
reading a document and periodically scrolling or paging using

I see this behavior on my Asus 1000HA with Karmic installed and
2.6.31-15. I get it perhaps one in three wakeups from sleep. It gets
as far as showing me an X screen then goes back to sleep. The second
wakeup then works as expected.

For future reference in order to get core dumps for applications to save
you probably need to modify your ulimit settings. Do a 'ulimit -a' and
most likely core file size is set to 0. You can set it to take a core
dump by specifying a maximum size for the dump, or setting it to
unlimited with
It's reproducible using scite on Hardy; so it's definitely a GTK or
filesystem bug.

Finally after today's updates, the brightness applet works again for me.
I think the updates came from intrepid-proposed.

Yup, just did it the day before yesterday. It doesn't make sense to look
further back since I've been on vacation and the computer hadn't been
used since mid-december... All I know is previously the applet worked,
and after the updates, it doesn't. And yes, the updates DID include the
new linux
