Will this be fixed for 10.04? I am a bit surprised to see that the
samba package is not installed on my desktop:

Yes I have to note this is a bug with gvfs on lucid.
Shares sporadically fail and work.

I can confirm these steps in Lucid. It would appear selecting the
NVidia device would make sense, but it results in this error message.
What is odd is that if I set it as 'default' it will then go through the
motions of 'recording' but when it's done I get an error and nothing is
played back
Hmm, I guess it was a bit premature to say this workaround works. The
files are capable of being imported, but not playable.

These files do play in other programs.

getting this error. Share is properly mounted and accessible.

Confirmed the workaround works on Karmic. If you access the share via
'guest' access it may require you to specify this when it requests the
login details. I use user permissions and when entered the command
asked for username, workgroup name and password, then mounted the drive

Cannot reproduce on gnome, I would gather this has something to do with
