In six months since Oneric this bug is not solved it's important for you, but i suspect is not very important for Cannonical. I think if you use VMWare or similar programs you should use other desktop like xfce, or apply the hack commented above (increase manually the border width of the windows, it works for me in 11.10) better than expect a fix in precise. 2012/6/13 Greg Smolyn smo...@gmail.com This problem exists in my VMWare Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit install. +1 please fix, this is a major problem. Re: [Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste
Its would be a great solution but i think that its a solution that requires a lot of work, and would be incompatible with other distributions. Somebody knows the internal structure of XServer to say if i am in a error? 2010/5/24 J Bruni joaohbr...@yahoo.com.br Wondering aloud If the application that owns the clipboard provides its contents (unavailable once it is closed)... What if we always make Xserver itself be this application (the owner of the contents), and thus always serve its contents (always available!) i.e., when the user copies (CTRL+C) or cuts (CTRL+V) instead of stopping at the point where the current application is flagged as owner... just go ahead and transfer contents + ownership to Xserver so, when the user pastes (CTRL+V) elsewhere, it will retrieve contents from Xserver... it doesn't matter if source application is opened or closed... Makes sense? Do we need a more complicated design for the solution? Or can we move forward by finding out how to implement the idea above? -- MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/11334 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of a duplicate bug. [Bug 528538] [NEW] Clipboard doesnt work corectly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit (Sorry for my English, im not a English speaker) Im Using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Alpha3 with gedit 2.29.6 I find that the clipboard is clear after copy a text from an application, closing the application, launching gedit and trying to paste the previously copied text. This problem not only affects gedit, tomboy, firefox, etc are affected. The steps to reproduce the error are: 1- Launch an application, for example gnome-terminal 2- Select some text and copy it 3- Close the application 4- Open gedit (Or tomboy for example) 5- Try to paste the text: the item paste in then context menu is disabled. I fin that if another application paste-capable are running at the moment of copying the text and continues running at the moment of the text pasting this problem do not occur.
