S13gdm and S20nvidia-kernel should be a tip as to why it doesn't work...
at least in my case.

In my log you will see the gdmgreeter failing after the bootup and then
doing fine after I restarted it on the command line.
to enable it edit the /etc/gdm/gdm.conf and set the debug=false to debug=true
frank.

Stephen McClain told me to do it... what he is reporting is the same bug
as mine... there you will find more information, my configuration and
log files and a way to partialy fix it. The problem aparently is not
with the configuration, but something about the booting up of the

remember now that after some kernel updates my network card doesn't come
back from hibernation so i've put its drivers (via-rhine) on the modules
file and it fixed it. maybe that is the problem, the network is not up

The thing is that when you update your gdm package it restarts gdm, just
like the solution that I posted on the forum... so It will work only one
time, and this is expected behaivior of the bug.

proportional to the size of the movie, so maybe it is not always 20secs,
but it is always wrong and before where you put the slider.
