I removed gdm, ubuntu-desktop and something else and installed lightdm.
Then I removed lightdm and installed gdm and ubuntu-desktop again.

installed pre-removal script returned error exit
No, i found out its related to the character encoding, which was set to an
unknown language, us... something. Once corrected it does not translate the
text.
