fn+camera does give a XF86WebCam. If I go to the shortcuts app, add
webcam: /usr/bin/cheese activate the Shortcut field and press fn+camera
it does insert XF86WebCam.
But! if I close the shortcuts app and press fn+camera, nothing
At the moment, with gdm 2.14.9-0ubuntu1, there is no option in the login screen
to configure gdm.
The menu option after logged in does work.

Just a me-too. Using gdm in dapper. Package:
gdm 2.13.0.9-0ubuntu5.
Setting the root password and using that crashes gdmsetup.
