Hi Martin,

thank you very much for the bug report. I think this should be fixed
with frameworks 5.116, recently uploaded.

Let us know if there's still any issue.

[Bug 1998716] Re: [raspi] Ubuntu 22.10 does not turn off monitor

2023-08-18 Thread Manuel Diewald
It appears this issue is also being tracked upstream [1].

The issue was fixed by adding firmware code that powers off the HDMI
port, which in turn causes most monitors to go into suspend mode and
turning off [2]. The fkms driver was modified to make use of that
firmware feature [3]. Since I can't reproduce the issue, I can't verify
this myself, but my assumption would be that the issue does not present
itself when the fkms overlay is being used.

With regards to the full kms driver, I don't see how this could be
fixed, considering that using a firmware feature is required. So as far
as I can see, if using the fkms driver is not an option, there is
nothing we could do to solve this issue.

[Bug 1998716] Re: [raspi] Ubuntu 22.10 does not turn off monitor

2023-03-07 Thread Manuel Diewald
I was unable to reproduce this behavior on an up-to-date 22.04 and on
22.10 (5.19.0-1009-raspi) with gnome-shell 43.0-1ubuntu2 running on a
Pi4 device.

Do you still experience the issue with the latest kernel image and
firmware installed? Have you tried to reproduce the problem with a
different monitor?

I read about a bug similar to this affecting mutter 3.34,but said that
they can see the poi ter in the second screen. In this case my monitor
falls in no-signal after a few seconds of trying to get the correct

Like Dimitry, I have experienced the same (or a similar) bug on a fresh
20.04 install. I'm attaching a picture of it. Both "Authenticate" and
"Cancel" buttons are clickable ("Authenticate" only once) but don't make
the window vanish. I confirm that killing the gnome-shell caused the

Does the video not work for you? I've downloaded it again and playback
works for me. Does playback not work for you, or what is the issue?

[Bug 1841372] [NEW] Widget Layout Jumping when printing

2019-08-25 Thread Manuel Barkhau

While a print job is active, the layout in the printers panel becomes
unusable. The dropdown for the gears icon is removed almost immediately
after the click that opened it.

[Bug 1774188] Re: Unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds in Xorg sessions (not so much in Wayland sessions)

2019-07-21 Thread José Manuel Ferrer
It happens to me also. Fresh install of Lubuntu 18.04, fully updated, on
an HP Pavilion g6. Whenever the screen is locked (either manually
choosing to lock it, or automatically after X amount of time without
using it), it will take many seconds just to simply draw the password
dialog. But if I switch to the terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F1, then back to
the X-Window "terminal", it will draw a text telling me that it will
take a few seconds to show me the password dialog ??!! That message then
disappears into a black screen, and more than twenty seconds later,
finally the password dialog shows up. The laptop was doing nothing,
completely idle... this shouldn't happen.

** Also affects: gdm
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** No longer affects: gdm

Sorry, I think this isn't the proper place for me to report this...
because in my case it's not happening with gdm, but with lightdm.

[Bug 1800924] [NEW] Ubuntu Software - can't reach home page

2018-10-31 Thread Manuel Spezzani
Public bug reported:

this happens reliably on my Ubuntu 18.10.

repro:

- open Ubuntu Software, the user is prompted with the "home" page (featured
apps, categories, editor's picks and so on)
- select any application, eg. Slack (no need to install it)
- close the Ubuntu Software window
- re-open Ubuntu Software, the Slack page is displayed

the issue is that the user is now "stuck" on the Slack page since there is no
easy way to get back to the home page (see screenshot):
- click on the "back" button (top left corner), nothing happens
- there is no link/command/menu to the home page
- there is no search button

the only workaround I'm aware of is:
- hit the search shortcut
- search for a random string
- finally the All/Installed/Updates menu is displayed, so the user can click on
"All" to get back to the home page

[Bug 1223181]

2015-11-09 Thread Manuel-steurer
Just repeating some info that's already in here:
The root of the problem seems to be https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338012
Doesn't look likely to be fixed, though.
A workaround that reportedly works is to change the GTK2 theme to anything else
than oxygen-gtk.

This exceptions were not reported until we added the check in the
io_service executor so they probably have been happening since the early
stages of the download feature. This has happened several times over 3G
which is not that fast in my countyr of residence in some cases (Spain).

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession-errors file grows out of control saturates disk space

2015-02-01 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Someone already did, and it is called journald:
http://0pointer.net/blog/projects/journalctl.html
Recent versions of gdm, kdm and dbus already use the journald by default to
replace .xsession-errors, and thus avoid all these problems. I guess we only
have to wait for Ubuntu to catch up to Fedora and OpenSuse. (I don't know about
CentOS, but it unavoidable that journald will be the default there eventually)

[Bug 1024800] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 switches to Chinese language

2012-07-16 Thread Manuel
I had the same problem after a fresh install of a 32-bit ubuntu 12.04.
With the hints mentioned by the original poster the language can be
restored, but in my case the language change came back multiple time
which was really annoying.

I figured that apparently there is an automatically installed and non-
removable entry of Chinese in the Keyboard Layout config menu in system
settings. If you just open this config menu, click through all the tabs
and return to the language tab, the first entry of the list will be
selected, which is Chinese if you haven't installed any other language
alphabetically listed before.

Thus the bug seems to be connected to the Keyboard Layout config dialog
which wrongly selects the first entry instead of the currently set
language.

Workaround: Avoid the Keyboard Layout config dialog or if you have to
use it, always make sure you mark your preferred language in the list
under the Language tab before closing the dialog.

Evolution worked fine in 11.10 for me which makes it quite unpleasant that it's
back again :-/

[Bug 962860] Re: The prompt for installing MP3 playback support dialogue box does not fit in a 1024x600 display

2012-04-19 Thread Manuel de la Peña
Fixing the bug by changing the text is not the correct way. What is
happening here is that the label is not wrapping which makes the frame
be too big. If we changed the text we would just be fixing the eng
version (I do agree that the proposed text is better).

I propose to fix the bug by making the text wrap which will ensure that
the widget uses the correct size and will be fix the issue for all
langs. Also, doing that will not require a UIFe because we are talking
about a bug and we are not being a PITA to the translators.

You can see an attachment with the image of the new wrappig version
(background) and the old one. I have also added a branch with the fix
which the u1 team will ensure that lands following the correct paper
work.

** Attachment added: Example of the widget running as in trunk and with the
proposed fix (background)

[Bug 969143] Re: Brightness bar is inverted in gnome settings

2012-04-02 Thread Manuel Razola
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter
the problem

No particular actions required to reproduce the problem. It's always
reproducible in a fresh ubuntu 11.10 installation or 12.04 installation,
with unity / gnome / xfce desktop environment, when the system has a
backlight panel available (laptop).

2. the behavior you expected

Brightness should remain the same value after entering screen option in
system settings.

3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible)

Brightness is toggling to its inverted value when entering screen option
in system settings. Provided an example: set brightness to 70%. Then
enter screen option in system settings and it becomes 30%. Go back
without changing the value and enter again. It's 70% now. And so on. As
stated in the original post:

echo 8 /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness outputs 2. It should
output 8.

[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage

2012-03-02 Thread Manuel Iglesias Alonso
Bless you Mucku!
My disk is not full but I started to get kernel error messages whenever I
browsed with nautilus (Not with Thunar) one particular disk partition (1.8TB)
and moving a tiny file from a directory to another would take ages.
Removing ~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata solved the problem! :-D
This bug deserves a fix by the gvfs developers.

Thank you again!

[Bug 795871] Re: nm-applet crashed with SIGSEGV in g_hash_table_foreach()

2012-01-05 Thread Manuel GRIZONNET
Hi,

I would like to share some informations with you related to this bug. I
am working on Ubuntu 11.04 and I reproduce the bug not directly with
the nm-applet but in a different context when I try to link a basic QT
application with an other library (in my case the Orfeo ToolBox
library).

Basically, the declaration of a QApplication app(argc, argv) linked with
an other library provoke the same crash with SIGSEGV in
g_hash_table_foreach(). Note that if I call the program through a remote
terminal (with ssh for example) the problem does not appear.

I'm really stuck in finding from where the problem can come from. I'll
be interested if you have information on how this bug was solved in the
case of the nm-applet (I saw similar problems with other Ubuntu
applications like empathy, ekiga but I didn't find really informations
on where the problem comes from (the shared library? glib? Qt?...)

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 908651] [NEW] Don't recognize my laptop's media controll buttons

2011-12-25 Thread Manuel
Public bug reported:

I don't know if the problem is related with Rythmbox or other package, but if I
click the play/pause, stop, next or previous button on my laptop (toshiba,
Satellite A 205).
At some moment it worked, but I don't remember with wich update it stopped
working.
Thanks
Cheers

I'm using ubuntu 11.10. All packages updates to 25/dic/2011.

rhythmbox:
  Installed: 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1.1
  Candidate: 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1.1
  Version table:
 *** 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1.1 0
500 http://mx.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main i386
Packages

 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://mx.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages

When I click the buttons instead of playing next son, pause, etc. A
square with a circle and a cross (no) appears in my monitor. Also in the
sound icon (top bar) I see sound control and rythmbox, but when I click
it and it oppens it doesn't change to controll (before it did).

Hope I make myself clear.
Thanks

[Bug 901171] Re: Saved search file opens in firefox instead of nautilus

2011-12-07 Thread Manuel J. Garrido
The mimetype listed in the nautilus properties is application/x-gnome-
saved-search

The output of gvfs-mime --query vidal.savedSearch is No default
applications for 'vidal.savedSearch'.

I'm adding an example file.
