[Bug 1400470] Re: cannot download photos using shotwell via usb

2017-07-10 Thread Maraschin
It's 2017 and this "feature" still present!
Everyone has a smartphone and when we want to import our pictures we always get
into this situation...

Could someone at least create a window in shotwell with instructions
about what todo, may be even a button that unmounts or do some action to
make it to work...

[Bug 740818] Re: Can't set Keyboard layout at installation and later on

2012-02-21 Thread Maraschin
YES! In my case the problem starts after install ati drivers.
But the drivers are installed by ubuntu via the hardware drivers option. I did
not download and install the drivers via AMD site, I did all of it through the
ubuntu repository...
I would guess the bug is just wrongly set to gnome-settings but IT DOES EXIST!
If it is due to the drivers or the combination of gnome, grub, etc that is
another thing...

If we should not report this bug here were should we report it???

2011-09-28 Thread Maraschin
HALLO!
To be able to move a window to another workspace you need to SHIFT + CONTROL +
ALT + Arrow (left or right) with one window select... Is this USER FRIENDLY???
NEVER!
And certainly not obvious...

[Bug 740818] Re: Can't set Keyboard layout at installation and later on

2011-09-27 Thread Maraschin
I just installed 11.10 Beta 2 and it worked fine.
After I did a full update it was still working fine, but when I installed AMD
proprietary drivers, from Hardware additional drivers and restarted, the
problem started again.
I'm not sure but it may be something related there, after install it and reboot
the keyboard changed to US when I would type the encryption password...

I did than boot with the old kernel version which did not have the drive
set and I could lggin again but it will not work with the 3.0.12 and
AMD/ATI driver...

[Bug 860865] [NEW] ATI Proprietary drivers make grub keyboard work as US only

2011-09-27 Thread Maraschin
Public bug reported:

I've install alpha 2 a few times and every time I install the ATI proprietary
drivers using the system center / Hardware / additional drivers and try to
boot, grub will be using the keyboard layout as US even if I've some other
keyboard layout set.
The configuration is correct within linux, once I managed to get the password
for the encryption correct, it will start as it should be, with the keyboard
layout I've set in the installation.

In my case I've set the keyboard = SWEDISH, if I do boot without install
the proprietary ATI drivers provided by additional drivers, it works
properly. If I install it, IT DOES NOT work as it was configured but it
assumes the USA keyboard layout instead, until ubuntu starts. (this is a
problem to me and others that use encryption since we may use characters
that do not exist in the american keyboard layout).

I found out that if I do install the proprietary ATI driver myself, by
downloading it from ATi and building it myself, it will not have the
same effect and the keyboard layout will work as set. I guess the
problem is within the packages provided by the repository and there may
be some sets there that are not generic enough ...

I can repeat this with older versions of 11.10 (I'd the same problem
with ALPHA 1 and ALPHA 3 ...)

I've reported it before:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850391

But the real problem is within the ATI proprietary drivers that are provided by
the ubuntu repository...

[Bug 860884] [NEW] Try to open an already opened app on a different workspace will get you back to the first workspace

2011-09-27 Thread Maraschin
Public bug reported:

If you open a terminal or nautilus on one workspace and than go to
another workspace and try to open the same application again (like a
terminal), it will take you back to the first workspace...

This may be a design decision but to me this is a BUG, what is the point to
change workspace and than have to go to another workspace to be able to open an
application that you want to have in the second or 3rd or 4th workspace?!
If you run apps on a desktop and you decide to have multiple workspaces, you
want multiple copies of the same application in different workspaces, otherwise
WHY to have workspaces???

It is a lot more work to have to go back between workspaces just to be able to
open an application that you already have running... and you may say but you
already have it open... YES!!! BUT I WANT A NEW ONE!!! And I want it in ANOTHER
workspace... like I want to have a terminal window in each workspace or I want
a few nautilus open in one workspace and a new one in another...
WHY?! Because it is a DESKTOP, and I want to be able to do things in
parallel... like copy files in one workspace, check documents in another,
program in a 3rd and so on...
And I do this every day!!!

it may be better than just remove workspaces...

[Bug 860892] [NEW] Discrete Graphics not working

2011-09-27 Thread Maraschin
Public bug reported:

I've got a HP Envy 17 which has two video cards, an Intel card and an ATI card.
Ubuntu identifies the ATI and ask if I would like to install the proprietary
drivers, event installing it the ATI card will not work since I do not have an
easy way to switch between the cards ... and or disable to Intel card (which is
fine most of the times, but not when running on battery!)
Is there anyway to be able to switch between the two?

As well there are side effects intalling the ATI proprietary driver:

[Bug 860900] [NEW] Installation will not recognise driver to install grub

2011-09-27 Thread Maraschin
Public bug reported:

When installing BETA 2, in the end of the installation, when tries to
install grub, it will not be able to recognize where to put grub and it
will report an error! I've a HP Envy 17 with two HDs set as RAID 0. The
correct device in my case is /dev/dm-0

If I do not build the RAID, it will work fine but with a hardware RAID it will
fail!
Yes, you can enter the map manually... but never the less, if it is possible to
fix it it will be better! ;)

[Bug 740818] Re: Can't set Keyboard layout at installation and later on

2011-09-13 Thread Maraschin
Hello, the BUG is back!

I did a full update yesterday (12/Sept/2011) and the keyboard got disconfigured
and back to american layout. My problem now is that I've the disc encrypted and
I use characters that do not exist in the american keyboard so now I can't even
login to the system!
I will try later with a recover disc but PLEASE can some one put a note in the
code saying that there are people with strange language keyboard
combinations

Thx!

[Bug 740818] Re: Can't set Keyboard layout at installation and later on

2011-04-05 Thread Maraschin
I've just tried to install Ubuntu Beta-1 server (AMD 64) and it is even worse.
Now I do not have the option to select the keyboard when installing.
It asks me for the locale but I do use English as the language and Swedish as
the keyboard.
I've no way to select such combination in the BETA-1 release.

If I try to go back in the installation and select Configure the
Keyboard, it does ignore my selection and goes back to set the
partition...

BTW, the selection of the keyboard in the boot process of the CD, before
I start to install ubuntu, does work but it seems totally irrelevant
since it will not carry the information when the installation process
starts.

Re: [Bug 195765] Re: gvfsd-sftp crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

2008-03-05 Thread Maraschin
Yes and it is worse than before!

BUT NOW when it crashes it doesn't report an error!!!

It just crashes!!!

Problems:
- I've problem to create directories in another machine using ssh through
nautilus, it crashes or it will just no do it (I can do using another
computer that runs Ubuntu 7.10 - the same operation);
- I've problem to move huge files, like 4.4GB. It just do nothing (I manage
to transfer the same file using FileZilla through sftp);
- I've problems when I try to queue several files to be moved, like move a
set of files, than another set and so on... It crashes after a few seconds
and no error will show, just crashes;
- It keeps loosing the connection to the ssh server and the queue than just
suspend with no option to retry or do anything, I HAVE TO REBOOT the machine
to be able to do anything;
- It seems that when I try to move huge files it just takes all the memory
available, at least is what the monitor shows me;
- The queue list keep moving to the center of the screen after you insert
something in the queue or it completes the transfer of an item;
- Problem to move directories inside directories, it CRASHES during the
moving... (like try to send files that are inside 3 or more levels of
directories...)
- there is no message asking if I would like to overwrite/append/... a file
that already exists in the destination;

BTW, the server in question is running Ubuntu 8.04 Beta with only SSH and
Samba installed...
I do not have the same problems transferring files when I'm using a client
that is running the 7.10...

Is there any way I can help?

As I sad, right now when it crashes it doesn't report any error that I can
report...
It just crashes and it seems the system thinks it is a normal failure...

/Carlo

ii gvfs 0.1.8-0ubuntu1 userspace virtual filesystem - server

 To start with:

 - the queue list that popups up, if you change its place to anywehere in
the screen, IT SHULD KEEP IT THERE! Everytime a new item goes in or one is
completed, the queue will be moved back to the center of the screen if you
have two screens it will move to the selected one) - Just before todays
update, this was working fine! If you have to redraw, check the position or
so something to keep it in the place where it was moved to...

 - I was moving several large files through ssh:// when it just crashed!
 Each file was about 350MB

 - This happen before, I tried to move a large folder with several folders
inside and large files (at least 3 levels of folders) ... IT DIDN'T WORK AT
ALL! It just creates an item in the queue and nothing happens!!!

Yes, I can replicate all the above!!!

Where can I post a bug than?
I did not find away to create a bug report if the system do not generate
one...

Cheers,
