[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates
This is a real shame. I am using Ubuntu 22.10 with Seahorse 42, and the problem still persists. The bug is several years old and there is no solution yet. The world is going paperless, people want to use their Linux systems for serious work and business, but certificate management is not supported. Just a short question - is this issue not important? You think adding some new features in a form of new shiny icons is more important than ability to digitally sign documents in 21th century? [Bug 1883174] Re: Some (or all) desktop icons are missing
Here we have a great example how bugs are being solved. Since there was no good solution, I updated 20.04 to 20.10. Bug was still there. Then I updated to 21.04 - and, voila, bug is not present anymore. So the solution is clear. Just wait till bugs dissapear by "natural reasons"... or till users switch to some other operating system. This is really amazing. I still have the same problem. And yes, it is NOT triaged. I have Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. LibreOffice is version 6.0.7.3. I would expect some things just work in 21tg century. [Bug 592671] [NEW] application cache update
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: desktop-file-utils Related packages: gnome-panel 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu2, python-gmenu 2.30.0-0ubuntu4, xdg-utils 1.0.2-6.1ubuntu3 The /usr/share/applications/desktop.*.cache file is not updated when an (attached example) entry is added by xdg-desktop-menu or desktop-file- install. Gnome-panel detects creation of a new desktop file in /usr/share/applications and displays it in the menu immediately, but on its next start (e.g. after logout/login) the old menu without new entry is displayed because of the cache. This is not a problem for native deb packages, for which dpkg triggers the python-gmenu postinst script responsible for updating the cache. This is only a problem for ISVs, that install their (LSB) packages themselves. This bug will force them to delete all such cache files. Is this deletion acceptable? Another possible solution would be to update the cache in update- desktop-database command. I haven't found such cache on Debian testing nor Fedora 13, so I think this is Ubuntu's invention, thus reporting it here. [Bug 236171] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage
I have also noticed that gnome-keyring-daemon starts to use large amount of RAM (1.0 - 1.3 GiB). The time, when this is happening, correlates with high CPU usage. Evolution and gnome-keyring-daemon work fine if Exchange plugin is not used. Evolution-exchange has also crashed two times during high resource usage. I have reported separate bug for that. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-exchange/+bug/236025 -- gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236171 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Switching the restricted drive OFF solved the problem. Switching the user does not freeze the computer anymore. The X server restarts and GDM window shows up. I have a ATI Radeon 9600, more specifically: pci.product: RV350 AR [Radeon 9600] pci.subsys_product: Sapphire Radeon 9600XT ...based on Device Manager info. Driver: I am using the Restricted driver, enabled in Restricted drivers manager. Kernel: due to the problems with -16 kernel, I am using the -15 version at the moment. Some time ago I ran also the Ubuntu Hardware Database, but something failed. My subscription ID is ed63ead2ead8903609e6a17361e1cc5f, however http://hwdb.ubuntu.com/ reports some kind of error. [Bug 118605] Feisty freezes upon Logout or Switch user
Public bug reported: Using Feisty, Gnome and GDM: 1) log in as any user 2) Log out or Switch user on the Quit screen The screen goes black, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace does not work, nor does the Ctrl+Alt+F1-12. Interestingly, Numlock LED is still responsive. The only way out is hard reboot. I looked for the solution on forums. One advice was to turn on Restart the X server with each login, however, it did not help. [Bug 114612] Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I use Ubuntu 7.04, automatic updates are on. Sometimes, when I add a launcher to the Gnome-panel, it disappears completely after restarting Gnome. Until then launcher works, displays correct icon, etc. It happened 3 times so far, twice with command java -jar somejar and once with a link to my home folder. Other launchers, such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Sim, etc stay in the place and make no trouble. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114612 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 114612] Re: Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear
Hi, Some observations: - I create a launcher on the desktop, then drag it to the Gnome-panel: - I hold shift, and although the cursor changes to move, in fact the launcher is being copied - but this is another feature - when I restart Gnome now, everything remains OK - as soon as I remove the launcher from the desktop, the launcher in the panel remains. BUT, after restarting Gnome it disappears - when I create the same launcher [seems that the same launcher name == same launcher, for this matter], the dissapeared launcher(s) pop out at the same spot where they disappeared. - I create a launcher by right click Add to panel... Custom application launcher: remains where it should be, doesn't disappear. - note that creating the launcher this way doesn't trigger reappearing of disappeared launchers Now some general notes: - for these experiments I used command like java -jar .., did the same as with Home Folder before - at this moment, I have one Home Folder launcher on the panel, it does not disappear. It's command is nautilus --no-desktop, and there is no such launcher on the desktop. I don't remember how did I add it there, most probably dragging from the Menu Places Home Folder Do I need to try the nautilus $HOME? I am fairly convinced it will behave exactly like java -jar. Thanks for help On 5/14/07, Dennis Francis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thank you for this report. Could you make a launcher with command field as 'nautilus $HOME' ? Just see if that too disappears. [Bug 113790] Encrypted USB is owned by root
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager I created encrypted USB drive, in fact, I have USB drive woth three partitions, and one partition is encrypted. I created it with command: sudo luksformat -t reiserfs /dev/sdc3 (you need the following modules loaded: dm-crypt, dm-mod, aes, sha256). When I remove USB key and plug it in again, I get gnome password dialog. I enter password and USB is mounted. But the new USB crypto disk is owned by root, so normal user can not write on it.
