[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates

2022-11-04 Thread Matej Kovacic
This is a real shame. I am using Ubuntu 22.10 with Seahorse 42, and the
problem still persists. The bug is several years old and there is no
solution yet.

The world is going paperless, people want to use their Linux systems for
serious work and business, but certificate management is not supported.

Just a short question - is this issue not important? You think adding
some new features in a form of new shiny icons is more important than
ability to digitally sign documents in 21th century? (Yes, I am actually
asking that question).

[Bug 1950040] Re: Wayland Screensharing broken in Ubuntu 21.10

2022-11-03 Thread Matej Kovacic
Weel, the bug may be closed, but it is not gone. I have Ubuntu 22.10
with Firefox 106.0 (Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu / canonical-002 -
1.0) and when I open https://www.webrtc-experiment.com/Pluginfree-
Screen-Sharing/ and try to share one window - Firefox just crashes.

I installed pipewire-media-session package, but of course it doesn't
help.

[Bug 1883174] Re: Some (or all) desktop icons are missing

2021-06-05 Thread Matej Kovacic
Here we have a great example how bugs are being solved.

Since there was no good solution, I updated 20.04 to 20.10. Bug was
still there. Then I updated to 21.04 - and, voila, bug is not present
anymore.

So the solution is clear. Just wait till bugs dissapear by "natural
reasons"... or till users switch to some other operating system.

Great way to go, really.

This bug also affects me. I just can't believe what an ignorance from
the maintainers to not resolve this issue already.

Do we have a working solution yet or not?

Some report that "sudo apt remove gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons"
solves the problem, but others that this causes even more problems.

Can you advise me, because I do not want to have additional problems.

[Bug 1771880] Re: Seahorse unable to import pkcs12 certificates

2020-07-31 Thread Matej Kovacic
This is really amazing. I still have the same problem.

And yes, it is NOT triaged.

I have Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. LibreOffice is version 6.0.7.3.

I would expect some things just work in 21tg century. But obviously, I
am wrong.

Maybe the problem is, that Ubuntu developers does not use encryption and
digital signatures? C'mon people, we are in 2020. How do you expect that
business will not use such things?

Or maybe Ubuntu is targeted for home playing only?

I have a very simple question: I am using Ubuntu version, which is still
officially supported. What should I do that I will be able to sign
LibreOffice documents and PDF's?

[Bug 592671] Re: application cache update

2010-06-14 Thread Matej Križan
Well, I don't think the custom package installer should be responsible
for knowing about, detecting and updating all such caches for all
possible Linux distributions. That's why LSB and freedesktop try to
unify (and simplify) all common tasks, desktop menu installation in this
case. If your distro improves something it should do that under the
hood, keeping the proposed interfaces working, xdg-desktop-menu
/desktop-file-install in this case.

[Bug 592671] [NEW] application cache update

2010-06-11 Thread Matej Križan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: desktop-file-utils

Related packages: gnome-panel 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu2, python-gmenu
2.30.0-0ubuntu4, xdg-utils 1.0.2-6.1ubuntu3

The /usr/share/applications/desktop.*.cache file is not updated when an
(attached example) entry is added by xdg-desktop-menu or desktop-file-
install. Gnome-panel detects creation of a new desktop file in
/usr/share/applications and displays it in the menu immediately, but on
its next start (e.g. after logout/login) the old menu without new entry
is displayed because of the cache. This is not a problem for native deb
packages, for which dpkg triggers the python-gmenu postinst script
responsible for updating the cache. This is only a problem for ISVs,
that install their (LSB) packages themselves. This bug will force them
to delete all such cache files. Is this deletion acceptable?

Another possible solution would be to update the cache in update-
desktop-database command.

I haven't found such cache on Debian testing nor Fedora 13, so I think
this is Ubuntu's invention, thus reporting it here.

I'm not sure if I can count
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=605644 as an upstream
bugreport. Maybe this is just a personal prefrence and you should close
this bug.

[Bug 247364] Re: Some emails are not displayed but are saved in the mailbox file

2009-11-09 Thread Matej Kenda
This is happening on Karmic as well using Exchange server.

Reproduction instructions (not 100% reliable):

1. read e-mails via Outlook Web Access: open new mails
2. close OWA and open Evolution
3. Some of the e-mails read with OWA will not show up, but the count on the
folder will indicate unread e-mails

Clearing local cache solves the situation.

[Bug 382652] [NEW] No ringtone for incoming calls

2009-06-02 Thread Matej Kovačič
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

When receiving incoming call from my SIP provider, I get a windows with
options to accept or refuse the call, but no ring tone.

Under settings there is enabled an option for tones when receiving
incoming calls. Sound files are under /usr/share/sounds/ekiga
(eing.wav), but cannot be played with totem, but plays good with
mplayer.

I had PulseAudio sound system enabled and also tried with ALSA, but it
is the same.

However, Totem produces the following error:
totem ring.wav

/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/gdata/tlslite/utils/cryptomath.py:9:
DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
  import sha
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 76 error_code 11 request_code 132 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 323873] Re: Pop-up notifications hide Gnome panel

2009-02-22 Thread Matej Vitasek
Tried System Preferences Pop-up notifications, error: notification-
properties: no such file blah blah.

Tried to run notification-properties in terminal, it hinted to install
notification-daemon. After installing, the problem cannot be reproduced,
these are whole different notifications obviously :-)

I guess this bug can be closed.

[Bug 331775] [NEW] Cannot save as when to rights to write over original file

2009-02-19 Thread Matej Vitasek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Steps to reproduce:

1) open a file you don't have rights to save to in gedit
2) do some editing
3) try to save - error box, you cannot save to this file - as expected
4) try to Save As in menu - item disabled, cannot save as.

This illogical, I should be at least able to save the file with my
changes to some other location, where I have rights to write.

Version:
gedit 2.25.7-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 alpha

[Bug 331775] Re: Cannot save as when to rights to write over original file

2009-02-19 Thread Matej Vitasek
I was just patching this
https://bugs.launchpad.net/timevault/+bug/156856 bug in TimeVault,
therefore the file was /usr/lib/python2.5/.../server.py (with regular
user I can read but not write it).

I opened it from Gnome Terminal, typing
gedit absolute path to the file
The working directory at the moment was probably ~ .

When I got the error banner, I did not close it, nor did I try to close
it and then try to save - it should work even without closing.

Thank you for your interest.

[Bug 253898] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV

2008-08-06 Thread Matej Kenda
The software packages were always installed through updates.

The only exception was one-time installation of evolution and keyring
from hardy-proposed, however I think that this was later than this bug
was reported.

Where exactly do you see local modifications and of which files (or
packages)?

I might try to resolve that.

[Bug 236171] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-06-03 Thread Matej Kenda
I have also noticed that gnome-keyring-daemon starts to use large amount
of RAM (1.0 - 1.3 GiB). The time, when this is happening, correlates
with high CPU usage.

Evolution and gnome-keyring-daemon work fine if Exchange plugin is not
used.

Evolution-exchange has also crashed two times during high resource
usage. I have reported separate bug for that.

I have a ATI Radeon 9600, more specifically:
pci.product: RV350 AR [Radeon 9600]
pci.subsys_product: Sapphire Radeon 9600XT
...based on Device Manager info.

Driver: I am using the Restricted driver, enabled in Restricted
drivers manager.

Kernel: due to the problems with -16 kernel, I am using the -15
version at the moment.

Some time ago I ran also the Ubuntu Hardware Database, but something
failed. My subscription ID is ed63ead2ead8903609e6a17361e1cc5f,
however http://hwdb.ubuntu.com/ reports some kind of error. Now I
cannot re-run the detection [and possibly attempt to upload data
again], all the UHD allows is viewing the ID.

If you need more info, please ask.

[Bug 118605] Feisty freezes upon Logout or Switch user

2007-06-04 Thread Matej Vitasek
Public bug reported:

Using Feisty, Gnome and GDM:

1) log in as any user
2) Log out or Switch user on the Quit screen

The screen goes black, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace does not work, nor does the
Ctrl+Alt+F1-12. Interestingly, Numlock LED is still responsive. The only
way out is hard reboot.

I looked for the solution on forums. One advice was to turn on Restart
the X server with each login, however, it did not help.

I am not aware of any non-default configuration, I can supply my gdm
.conf-custom if needed.

[Bug 114612] Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear

2007-05-14 Thread Matej Vitasek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I use Ubuntu 7.04, automatic updates are on.

Sometimes, when I add a launcher to the Gnome-panel, it disappears
completely after restarting Gnome. Until then launcher works, displays
correct icon, etc.

It happened 3 times so far, twice with command java -jar somejar and
once with a link to my home folder.

Other launchers, such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Sim, etc stay in the
place and make no trouble.

Re: [Bug 114612] Re: Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear

2007-05-14 Thread Matej Vitasek
Hi,

Some observations:

- I create a launcher on the desktop, then drag it to the Gnome-panel:
  - I hold shift, and although the cursor changes to move, in fact
the launcher is being copied - but this is another feature
  - when I restart Gnome now, everything remains OK
  - as soon as I remove the launcher from the desktop, the launcher in
the panel remains. BUT, after restarting Gnome it disappears
  - when I create the same launcher [seems that the same launcher name
== same launcher, for this matter], the dissapeared launcher(s) pop
out at the same spot where they disappeared.

- I create a launcher by right click Add to panel... Custom
application launcher: remains where it should be, doesn't disappear.
  - note that creating the launcher this way doesn't trigger
reappearing of disappeared launchers

Now some general notes:

- for these experiments I used command like java -jar .., did the
same as with Home Folder before
- at this moment, I have one Home Folder launcher on the panel, it
does not disappear. It's command is nautilus --no-desktop, and there
is no such launcher on the desktop. I don't remember how did I add it
there, most probably dragging from the Menu Places Home Folder

Do I need to try the nautilus $HOME? I am fairly convinced it will
behave exactly like java -jar.

Thanks for help

On 5/14/07, Dennis Francis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Thank you for this report. Could you make a launcher with command field as
'nautilus $HOME' ? Just see if that too disappears. If it does, then check
whether under your session preference 'Automatically save settings to

I can't confirm this problem yet. Thanks once again.

I enter password and USB is mounted. But the new USB crypto disk is
owned by root, so normal user can not write on it.

This is not the case with ordinary, non-encrypted USB partitions.

I can create a directory as root and chown it, but this is a dumb
solution.

[Bug 34293] Fake warning of low disk space

2006-03-10 Thread Matej Kovacic
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34293

Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
   Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs
 Status: Confirmed

Description:
After installation to Dapper I received warning I have low space on my
system disk. However, /sda1 is not my root partition. It is my
Windows C: partition, and my / is /sda4, which is mre than 80% free.
/home and /boot partitions are also not critical, but Windows partitions
are quite full.

I believe that Dapper checks only how free is the first partition and
DOES NOT check whether this partition belongs to Ubunto or not. This
should be fixed.
