[Bug 203527] Re: Clicking on clock applet hangs gnome-panel

2008-03-31 Thread Matthew Tighe
I think the medium classification for this is too low. This can really
impact your system. If you don't have a terminal window open and no
shortcut to one on the desktop you are effectively locked up. Alt+F2
fails me in this situation, too.

I also had a complete system hang sometime after leaving gnome-panel in
this state without killall -1 gnome-panel, which corrects the problem.

[Bug 60901] Re: Slow startup - Fetching summary information for new messages

2008-03-18 Thread Matthew Tighe
Pretty much confirmed it is the Global Catalog Name Server setting for
me. If it's available (via VPN), Evolution is down right speedy. If it

This should time out much faster, or better yet, only try to contact it
when doing things in the Global Address book (there's no reason to try
and ping before that).

[Bug 195800] [NEW] [Hardy] Evolution not available because evolution-common not installable

2008-02-26 Thread Matthew Tighe
Public bug reported:

Did a fresh install of Alpha-5 64-bit last night using alternate CD.
This morning I had some updates available and ran them. It was a
distribution upgrade. It removed evolution-common as being an unused
package. Evolution is now not available AND I cannot reinstall it
(evolution-common will not install as there is no candidate version
available).

[Bug 196011] [NEW] Certain apps experiencing slowness under latest gnome in Hardy

2008-02-26 Thread Matthew Tighe
Public bug reported:

Lastest hardy on Feb 26, 2008. Certain applications have started
experiencing slowness on window operations today. For example, Firefox 3
open file dialog takes about 20 seconds to open up. Thunderbird 2.0 does
as well. However, swiftweasel shows now such slowness. Gnome appearance
applet takes about 20 seconds to launch (shows up in the running program
list immediately, but the window takes 20 seconds to pop up).

Nautilus flies open, too.

I ran strace on firefox and thunderbird and the slowness coincides with
a futex ETIMEDOUT event. This repeats every few milliseconds until the
window opens. The firefox trace is attached to this comment. The same
error happend in Thunderbird.

I am running 64-bit with an encrypted file system (128-bit AES). Haven't
seen any slowness until today, though.

[Bug 183612] Cannot to connect to exchange server after today's Hardy updates

2008-01-16 Thread Matthew Tighe
Public bug reported:

This started this morning after last night's updates. I've been trying
to troubleshoot this off and on all day with little luck. Evolution
popped up this morning with a new account wizard which was strange
since I've been using the same account all along. I went ahead and
played along and was unable to get it to create a new account (always
hung at the authenticate with exchange screen). Not so much hung as the
forward button wouldn't become available. After much messing around with
deleting .evolution directory and trying to force it to start I finally
was able to get it to create the account using the exchange-connector-
setup-2.22 program.

That worked, but when I run exchange it get the following error:

(evolution:8421): e-data-server-ui-WARNING **: Key file does not have
key 'exchange:__doe_j;[EMAIL PROTECTED]'

And I fail to authenticate to the OWA server. I don't think it's really
even trying.

[Bug 151316] Evolution not aware of network changes

2007-10-10 Thread Matthew Tighe
Public bug reported:

Evolution has some great speed improvements for Exchange connectivity in
this version, but there is still a big issue with detecting network
connectivity changes, even before running the client.

Evolution launches some background processes on startup. Firing up a VPN
client and then the client module causes the background processes not to
be able to find the exchange server. I have worked around this be
creating a script that kills the running processes and then fires up the
client (which relaunches the background processes). However, I think
evolution should be able detect these changes without killing and
restarting (which is really a kludge).

[Bug 135159] Evolution in Tribe-5 requires data server restart to connect to Exchange

2007-08-27 Thread Matthew Tighe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution-data-server

I have to kill evolution-data-server-1.12 and restart evolution in
order to get it to connect to my Exchange server. This is extremely
repeatable under Tribe-5 of Gutsy. Happens every time after reboot.
Evolution version is 2.11.90.
