follow. There have also been a large number of workarounds in the
comments above that could help you.

This workaround does not work for linux 64 as there is no such directory as
 /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper
Sorry for being noob, but I don't know how to solve it

[Bug 406515] Re: [Karmic] Brightness fn keys lost functionality (multiple laptops)

This is the output I got from screen brightness down:

This is the output I got from screen brightness down:
KeyPress event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x1e1,
root 0x110, subw 0x0, time 12142853, (289,478), root:(358,796),

same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

Obviously that's only key down, not up.

The setpci command works for me to change brightness. However, the keys
do not change the brightness. I'm also not running gnome-power-manager
so I wouldn't expect this to work.

I was running 9.04 this morning and xev wasn't showing any output for
the keys. However, I upgraded to 10.04 and the issue seems to have gone
away.

Could somebody else try with the daily live cd?

2009-11-18 Thread Michael Lustfield
This obviously isn't specific to Ubuntu or Firefox. There's a lot lot
lot more to it. I looked over many work-arounds and I came to the
conclusion that what I came up with wasn't a work-around but rather the
best way to manually install these packages (java/flash).

It's off topic for here but perhaps this will help some of you. DO NOT
post this worked or didn't work for me or I will remove the post and
ban your IP from my server. This is informational ONLY.

2009-10-23 Thread Michael Lustfield
Just a note, some work has been done upstream but the issue seems to
have been put on the back burner. Personally, I only mount what I
actually use. My /vm, /boot, /media/windows only get mounted when I need

I'm wondering if this should be marked as Confirmed and not Triaged
considered they haven't even marked it confirmed in the upstream
bugtracker.

[Bug 296938] [NEW] Rip out volume controls

2008-11-11 Thread Michael Lustfield
Public bug reported:

I am only able to change the volume using the multimedia keys on my
laptop when gnome settings daemon is running. The other keys such as S1,
AV Mode, Rewind, Forward, Stop, Play/Pause work fine with keytouch. The
volume keys on the other hand only work when gnome-settings-daemon is
running.

Since this app takes 15MB to run it would be nice if these keys could be
handled by keytouch instead. This app uses approx 6MB less and is needed
anyway for a large majority of multimedia keys.

[Bug 283554] Re: gnome-power-manager disappears after a while

2008-10-15 Thread Michael Lustfield
I did the following. Obviously it kept pushing to the file. I figured it
would be enough to type this out then kill it. For w/e reason at the end
of the last sentence, it started showing up again. I killed the output
after it started working again.

It seems to be intermittent and I can't figure out what actually happens
to cause this.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ killall gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager: no process killed
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-power-manager --verbose --no-daemon gpm.log

I looked at the output and it was kind of interesting. For the record,
I'm pushing hard to find every bug in 8.10 whether it will be fixed by

[Bug 259973] Re: gnome-terminal can't name window

2008-09-17 Thread Michael Lustfield
This isn't an issue with gnome-terminal. It appears to be an issue in openbox
itself.
FYI - I don't run anything on top of openbox.

[Bug 259930] Re: gnome-terminal keeps tabs in memory

2008-08-21 Thread Michael Lustfield
Same thing still happens.

Here's how I test.

Open two tabs.
In tab #1, cp ~/test/15_GB_File ~/test/Another_File
In tab #2, watch du -h ~/test/*
Close tab #1

The watch will show you that the file is still growing.

I tried both methods of closing the terminal.

I know it's with gnome-terminal and not my laptop. I've seen this happen
on other systems as well.

[Bug 259976] [NEW] gnome-power-manager can't send to hibernate

2008-08-21 Thread Michael Lustfield
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Ubuntu 8.04.1 x86_64
Sony Vaio VGN-FZ240E

I launch up gnome-power-manager when I log into openbox.

When I select Suspend, the computer seems to suspend just fine. I'm
going to try it now to make sure. Works perfect.

When I select Hibernate, my screen goes black and sits there. I don't
see any HD activity or anything. I waited a few minutes too. I
eventually had to just kill it with the power button.

When it starts coming back up from the hard kill, it runs through
recovering the journal and continues on with a completely normal boot.

[Bug 259973] Re: gnome-terminal can't name window

2008-08-21 Thread Michael Lustfield
Same thing happens with this - alltray -s -na -i ~/.icons/irssi-
invert.png xterm -title irssi

xterm -title irssi and gnome-terminal -t irssi don't take a title,
they just use the default.

I guess this is an issue with OpenBox then.

[Bug 259930] [NEW] gnome-terminal keeps tabs in memory

2008-08-20 Thread Michael Lustfield
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04. I regularly use gnome-terminal for a large
majority of my terminal emulator usage.

If I open two tabs, start two tasks in each, such as copying 15GB which
I occasionally do, then close that tab via the X, the tab is closed and
can't be returned to - but the system resources are still being hogged
up. I'm pretty sure that activity is still going on too.

This isn't usually much of an issue. However, in instances where the
task is system intensive and keeps running, it is a problem.

Also, using the exit command does seem to kill the tab.

[Bug 109709] Re: feisty - installed applets (invest, weather) on panel; they don't respond, and I can't remove them

2007-11-06 Thread Michael Lustfield
[gutsy] hope this is good enough to confirm.
I can add the app but cannot remove it or access it by right / left clicking
This happened with the Invtest applet. I solved removing it by making a new
panel and moving everything over to it.

Also - should be able to kick /usr/lib/gnome-applets/invest-applet in
gnome-system-monitor

I kinda wanted to redo the panel a little anyway.

[Bug 147943] Re: [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login)

2007-10-11 Thread Michael Lustfield
cabernet54: You're English is much better than some people that only
most, mee tooo

It's working here. If it's working for my crappy hardware, I think it
will work for everybody. From Michael Vogt's description it sounds like
the bug was fixed as much as possible and more so masked past that and
being worked on for upstream.

7 days before release, congratulations. Hopefully the rest of the bugs
are solved before release and equally well.
