Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't works for me. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager The brightness applet doesn't work on lucid, but it worked fine with karmic and jaunty. The system is a Compaq Presario CQ60 and doesn't need any privative drivers. The brightness is always at 100% but if you leave the mouse still, it goes to an energy saving mode.
