[Bug 1727758] [NEW] Duplicated icon when application started

2017-10-26 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock 0.7

I added to the dock an application (an Eclipse-based IDE from IBM called
Rational Application Develper)
.desktop file attached.

When clicking on the icon, a new icon is created as long as the application is
running.
The icon disappears when I close the application

I think that the problems is that the launcher spawns another process,
(attached the ps -uf relevand part)

I filed this bug because there is a software which can open apk files
(even though it is not part of ubuntu): it's a terminal command called
"adb" and I created a script which uses it. If you want I can paste

There's an APK icon, but unfortuntely I can't find the file now, sorry

[Bug 620308] [NEW] spindown disabled not honored when on battery

2010-08-19 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Even if I choose to not spin down my disks when on battery, the spin down is
actually done (by pm-utils I think).
Have a look at /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/harddrive (line 12)

set when calling the script, otherwise the default value of 6 (30 seconds) is
used.

But in this way we're no more adium compatible, because we must add a

This is a big lack of adium, but I see that in the adium changelog

No.
Actually, incoming messages in adium only know the name of the sender and not
my name, so this can't be done in adium-theme-ubuntu. (as long as I know,
because I've just read the adium site. I'm definitely not an adium expert)

[Bug 599011] [NEW] Blank space at the top when opening a GtkComboBox

2010-06-27 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

This happens only with GtkComboBox, and not GtkComboBoxEntry.

There is a scenario in which when you open the combo box you'll get a blank
space it the top.
This is beacause the first entry of the combo box items is placed just below
the main widget, while the menu background is expanded accordingly to the
number of items.
The result is really unpleasant to see.

[Bug 596272] [NEW] ctrl-c always copies the key name

2010-06-19 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf-editor

In gconf-editor ctrl-c is overriden to copy the key name instead of the
selected value.
upstream does not want to change this, I hope that at least in ubuntu we should
have a normal ctrl-c behavior, and remove the menu shortcut keybinding

[Bug 594625] [NEW] nautilus leaves the copy dialog in the indicator applet even if the transfer is completed

2010-06-15 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This happens every time.
Just start a copy between 2 folders (it must be enough big to bring the copy
dialog) and wait.
When the operation is finished you'll still see that the indicator applet icon
was not removed.
If you click on it and choose "show copy dialog" you'll see a tiny empty window.
killall nautilus makes the icon disappear

Well, as reported in the upstream bug, they tend to think that the
cause is in xorg: after hitting any keyboard key another randr event
is fired, so displays get reconfigured and I see the lag + flicker.

[Bug 590237] Re: g-p-m fails to switch off the screen with "DPMS is not enabled"

2010-06-05 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
I discovered that DPMS fails when I boot an instance of android emulator, which
is a 32bit app in my 64bit ubuntu.
After clicking start->launch on the emulator, g-p-m starts to print the error
when the screen timeout occurs, and even after exiting from the emulator this
problem remains. Restarting g-p-m does not help.
The only way to solve this is to run 'xset dpms force off' and g-p-m will
automatically recover itself.

[Bug 586717] [NEW] "unknown key" verbose messages

2010-05-28 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When changing timeout values /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout I get messages
in the gnome-power-manager verbose console:
 - unknown key /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_computer_ac
 - unknown key /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_computer_battery
 - unknown key /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_computer_ups
 - unknown key /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_display_ac
 - unknown key /apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_display_ups

The only key that does not emit a warning is sleep_display_battery.
Also sleep_computer_* has no effect (I waited the expected time and more, but
the sleep action is not performed), but maybe this is a separate bug

[Bug 449188] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't cause the screen to go blank

2010-05-12 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Now the screen doesn't blank anymore. But I noticed that this bug happens not
in every boot.
What's strange is that the screen goes black for a second when opening the lid,
and the angle is 35-40° with the table.

[Bug 570592] [NEW] totem displays tags in subtitles from MKV files instead of interpreting them

2010-04-27 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

When using and avi file plus a srt text file, totem can handle tags in
subtitles by showing bold, italic and underline.
If instead the video is in MKV with embedded subtitles, it displays the tag.

I also made a test by extracting the subtitles and converting from MKV
to AVI. The result confirms the bug
