[Bug 1918422] [NEW] At startup cryptsetup passwords are sometimes forgotten
Public bug reported: At startup of the Ubuntu system, encrypted disks are unlocked. The saved passwords are forgotten in a very reproducible way. This happens if you have three or more disks to be unlocked and mounted. 1) At first startup you enter the password and saves it for future use. The disk is unlocked and mounted. 2) The second startup the disk is only unlocked, but not mounted. Clicking on it in the file browser mounts it. 3) The third startup you need to enter the password again, starting over again at step one. The password is still in the keyring and every time you enter the password a new entry is added. Looking in "gnome-disks" it seems as while other disks are being unlocked, a disk can't be mounted at the same time. My unlock time it set for 60 seconds. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Release:20.04 ** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1918422 Title: At startup cryptsetup passwords are sometimes forgotten To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1918422/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1285258] Re: sometimes GNOME screen lock fails to unlock after password entered
I haven't seen this bug for very long, but I have a suspicion of what it is. Now-a-days I use SSD-drives. They are much faster than HDDs. Although, if I run Virtualbox or dd it takes several seconds to unlock the screensaver. I suspect that the screensaver is trying to reach a library or data in the file system on the harddisk and is prevented to do this when other disk operations pending. Sometimes I wait until operation is finished. HDDs are slower and you need to wait a bit longer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1285258 Title: sometimes GNOME screen lock fails to unlock after password entered To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1285258/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1285258] [NEW] failing to unlock screensaver
Public bug reported: There seem to be two distinct errors when unlocking gnome-screensaver. Both prevents you from logging in. The first is the most serious. 1) When I move the mouse, the lock screen appears. Whatever I type it only activates the top right menu. I'm completely unable to login. I used power button to restart the computer. 2) Most common is that you can type your password, but the rotating- pause-animation never stops. [Bug 774273] Re: unlock screen no longer works
I had a similar problem which made me at first unable to enter the Ubuntu session. It was caused by my right shift key had not correctly been recognised as released. Maybe because of at the moment heavy loaded CPU, missed interrupt. Steps I used: 1) Leave message 2) Enter password (or all keys that is included) 3) Press all kinds of keys (i.e. shift, ctrl) until it is correctly shown. 4) Press Cancel to don't leave the message. It worked for me! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774273 Title: unlock screen no longer works -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 774312] [NEW] making link from Nautilus doesn't use the correct working directory
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When making a link from nautilus and using it from another folder doesn't set the correct working folder. Example steps to reproduce: 1) Find a file and make a link to it by right clicking in nautilus. 2) Move the link-file to desktop. 3) Double clicking runs the action, but it is not the correct working folder The working folder should be where the file is, not, as in this example, on desktop. Always reproducible. I use some programs that depend on being started in the folder where data is. This is not a problem if there is only one data file, but it is, when there are several files necessary such as an IDE. [Bug 454811] [NEW] nautilus right click improvement
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When right clicking on a file a menu opens. This is as expected. It would be great if the menu would place itself so you need to move the mouse pointer to get a selection activated. Some programs require double clicking and if you manage to do this by occasion, you end up with having selected one item. To avoid this the menu can be placed just some pixels away from the mouse pointer. If you now double click you open the menu twice, which doesn't matter. [Bug 200846] Re: Totem fails to jump to times in video
A video, i.e. mpeg2, is hard to set to a time to continue. For example: You see a movie for 30 minutes, switch off the computer and want to continue watching the movie later, then it is hard to set the time to continue because mpeg is a compressed format and totem uses bytes to count time in the movie. One byte is not always corresponding to the same time. When totem is started it seeks the movie-file which gives different positions on the slider. This makes the very hard to set the time. ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- Totem fails to jump to times in video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200846 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
