Ok, I figured out how to reproduce this problem. Turn off the power to your computer without (hold down the power button for 4 seconds) shutting it down from the menu. If you do this, the next time you start up Ubuntu you will have the messed up panel icons. How is this bug report incomplete? The only thing that I am missing is the name of the package. Sorry, it did work. I was making calls from the call history which still had @sip.poivy.com. When I made a new call, Ekiga used the new IP address.
