Upgrading from Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 to 13.10 gave me this error. Although
it seems like gdm ended up being installed, it did give me these weird
errors during the upgrade.

Hi Jeremy,
I'm having a similar issue runing Nautilus with RabbitCVS (nautilus
extension for SVN and other CVS).
I'm attaching the bug. I can confirm using symbolic links solved my
problem.

Public bug reported:
Hi all,
Recently my battery stopped being detected on gnome-power-statistics. So
I went to investigate. I tried to check my battery on
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0, but I couldn't find it. "acpi -b" reported that
the battery was present, so I investigated deeper. It seems like the
I'm adding acpi -b just in case. I'm wondering if this is a Kernel issue
rather than a gnome issue. Or maybe /proc/acpi/battery was relocated
somewhere else and gnome (and I) just don't know where.

I'm having the same problem. The funny thing is that "acpi -b" tells me
that the battery is present and detected, but I can't find it in
/proc/acpi/battery.
