- sudo apt autoremove
- gnome-control-center ubuntu
Expected: control center opens with Appearance tab shown

Experiencing same problem, in most cases displays that go into sleep modus (or
you turn them off and on again) don't remove themselves from the display driver.
But some displays gets removed form the gpu(or xorg, i don't know) display
driver and the re-added.

I believe it is an ibus-daemon bug. I had the problem at least in gnome-
terminal, firefox (but not under Unity), thunderbird. I solved it less
brutally than flushing the whole user DConf database by resetting one
key:

cannot select the digital surround sound options simply because they do

It is an environment variable problem: while a 'passwd' process run from
a terminal inherits all environment variables (and among them
GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL and DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS), the 'passwd'

Configuration: Ubuntu 9.10, Totem 2.28.2
I slot in DVD, Totem opens correctly, video is OK, but no sound.
Properties report that audio codec is n/a. I have burned this DVD with
MPEG2 sound, and it plays well on standard DVD player as well as on

Upgraded to Karmic and tried to replicate the bug for a week, but
nothing.. it seems that it has disappeared. I will try for another week

Then why the window title displays correct info? It doesn't make sense.
Also these station were doing fine until I upgraded to karmic.

I forgot to add that just before the exit attempt the sound stopped
working at all in ekiga (ie I was testing ring tones and one stopped to
playback in the middle so I wanted to restart ekiga to see if it helps)

ekiga froze on exit attempt and started to consume 120% cpu
Ok, I can repeat this bug easy: here are the steps:
- open ekiga
- go to preferences - sound events
- attempt to play sound for some event
ekiga will play only less than a second and then will start to consume a lot of
cpu and will not exit without SIGTERM.
I'll provide stdout and strace log in
when ptraced it behaves a bit different: it plays sound with a lot of
noise, starts to consume about 50% of cpu, but exit cleanly when quit is
requested. gzipped strace output attached.

I've just lunched Karmin Koala Alpha 2 on my laptop, and problem is
still there. When pressing brightness controll keys gnome brightness
progress bar doesn't move, and screen brightnes changes for a moment,
and screen always gets dimmed. If you need further info I'm here.
