I have the same problem, mine is a Brother MFC-5460CN. I've had the problem since transitioning with a clean install form 8.10 to 9.04, the bug persisted in 9.10 (clean install). I've been using Lucid since Alpha2 and have had the same problem, in the past week however another problem came up: other than the format problem now if I tell my printer to print in low resolution and grayscale it will print in color and full resolution.
I have now a fully updated Lucid install, and the problem is still there.
