@Seb128 The requirement was to create a launcher on the Desktop to help
end user open the user guide of the machine. The device enablement team
should be able implement the same feature with a symbolic link.

[Bug 1870479] Re: .desktop files were open by gedit

2020-04-09 Thread Rex Tsai
The .desktop was supported by nautilus 1:3.26.4-0~ubuntu18.04.5 in
bionic.

The feature has been removed[1] from nautilus by upstream. There is no
progress from upstream to re-implement the feature[2].

Device Enablement team will need to find another approach to meet
customer's requirement.

[Bug 1868260] [NEW] Change sleep-inactive-ac-timeout to 1200 to meet eStar 8 requirement

2020-03-20 Thread Rex Tsai
Public bug reported:

Based on Energy Star Computers Specification Version 8.0[1] Table 3:
Power Management Requirements (page 10)

The energy star spec requests
- The machine shall enter Sleep/Alternative Low Power Mode after no more than
30 minutes of user inactivity. (suspend)
- The machine shall enter Display Sleep Mode shall be set to activate after no
more than 15 minutes of user inactivity.

The default settings in focal are
- The machine will enter Sleep/Alternative Low Power Mode in 20 minutes with
battery[2]
- The machine is always on with the AC[2]
- Enter Display Sleep Mode in 5 minutes[3]

OEM device team suggested to change org.gnome.settings-
daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-timeout to 1200 (20 minutes) as
default to meet the Power Management Requirements of Energy Star
Computers Specification Version 8.0.

[Bug 897302] Re: Screen dims even automatic dimming is turned OFF (when on battery)

2012-10-12 Thread Rex Tsai
Also confirmed this issue in precise.

We have two solutions -

1. Make sure g-s-d check idle-dim-* settings in gconf (gnome-control-center
screen)
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim-ac true
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim-battery true

2. Fix gnome-session, to inhibit idle if idle-dim-* is faluse.

* Dim screen to save power changed idle-dim-battery (GSD_POWER_IDLE_MODE_DIM)
* Turn screen off when inactive changed sleep-display-ac and
sleep-display-battery. (GSD_POWER_IDLE_MODE_BLANK)

Both are not interrelated after all.

In gnome-control-center screen, it should change idle-dim-time, and
text should be Dim screen when inactive, which make more sense.
