[Bug 1788439] Re: xubuntu 18.10 - gimp export with thumbnail changes to landscape

2018-08-22 Thread Rob Peters
Sorry, I error'ed and have corrected the bug description to read 18.10

** Description changed:

- Gimp 2.10.2 on xubuntu 18.04.
+ Gimp 2.10.2 on xubuntu 18.10.

  Two problems:

  1. When exporting a .jpg image, that has a thumbnail image, to the
desktop, the thumbnail, which should be displayed in portrait is changed
to landscape. This is new to gimp 2.10.

  2. Small .jpg images exported to the desktop, with or without a
thumbnail, do not show the icon. This is a gimp problem. If I use
Shutter to save a .jpg image to the desktop, the thumbnail show
correctly. However, gimp does not save the image correctly "or" xfce4
  does not render it correctly.

[Bug 1681269] Re: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application

2018-04-15 Thread Rob Peters
OK, I had to go back and think about this for a moment since I am no
longer on 17.04. I have tested this issue on both Ubuntu as well as
Ubuntu Bodgie, both on 18.04 and the same thing is happening with
Nautilus as the default.

To duplicate the issue, take the desktop file below, save it to the desktop as
calendar.desktop.
Then, right click on the file. You should be able to open it with gedit.
However, if it loads, gedit is empty or contains the last buffer from the
previous file edited. You can't set permissions on the desktop file with a
right click e.g. set it executable.
