[Bug 157398] Re: GNOME default DPI doesn't match X default DPI

2009-04-04 Thread Rotbart van Dainig
It seems that since Jaunty Beta, this is ignored again and there is a
default of 96 DPI (at least for both nv and nvidia) set in gconf for
LiveCD and Install.

gconftool-2 --unset /desktop/gnome/font_rendering/dpi will remove this
default value and subsequently, X-based auto-fontsize works - though in
gnome-appearance-properties, it still shows 96, no matter what. IIRC,
the latter is not the case in Fedora.

[Bug 157398] Re: GNOME default DPI doesn't match X default DPI

2009-04-04 Thread Rotbart van Dainig
It seems broken again on current Jaunty.

Steps to reproduce:

Xorg gets DPI from EDID:
(--) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (85, 86); computed from UseEdidDpi X config
(--) NVIDIA(0): option

Appearances shows 96 DPI. Setting it to 96 keeps the default size,
setting it to 86 makes the fonts smaller.

gconftool-2 --unset /desktop/gnome/font_rendering/dpi removes the
default 96 DPI, the fonts get smaller (same size as manually setting to
86).

After logging out and in, the fonts are back to the default size (96).

[Bug 202546] [NEW] [Hardy] Brasero fails if CUE sheet only specifies filename

2008-03-15 Thread Rotbart van Dainig
Public bug reported:

brasero 0.7.1-3

Situation:

Both .bin and .cue are in the same directory.
CUE sheet is opened with Brasero and tried to be burned.
(Tried doth with letting brasero choose image type and manually specifying .cue)

Burning fails with error:
size can't be retrieved for ToGuardianAngel.bin: No such file or directory.

However, after editing the CUE sheet to specify the full path in the
FILE header instead of just the file name, Brasero burns happily.

As Brasero is the default application for burning CUE sheets, it should
check the path of the CUE sheet for the image before failing - hard
paths are not usual in CUE sheets.

[Bug 201598] [NEW] [Hardy] Eye of Gome zoom doesn't work as advertised anymore

2008-03-12 Thread Rotbart van Dainig
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Ubuntu 8.04
eog 2.22.0-0ubuntu1

EoG Help states:

You can zoom in or out of the image in the following ways:
* Use the Ctrl+scroll wheel on a mouse. Scrolling down zooms out; scrolling
up zooms in.

HIG states (http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/input-
mouse.html.en):

Ctrl+scrollwheel-up should zoom into the window or control under the
mouse pointer, and Ctrl+scrollwheel-down should zoom out. Zooming in
this way should not move keyboard focus to the window or control being
zoomed.

While I'm fairly certain that while earlier in 2.21 it worked that way, now
with 2.22.0-0ubuntu1 it's exactly the opposite as described above in EoG:

Moving the mouse wheel up or tilting it right zooms in, moving it down
or tilting it left zooms out.

And the kicker is: Ctrl+Up scrolls up, Ctrl+Down scrolls down,
Ctrl+Right scrolls right... and Ctrl+Left does nothing at all! (In
Evince, Scrolling works both vertically and horizontally)

Ok, that Ctrl-Left does nothing is due to the fact that while both tilt
directions of the scroll wheel create Button events alone, only
Ctrl+Right creates an altered state Button event while Ctrl+Left creates
a ConfigureNotify event... like if the window manager grab the event.

Is there a known shortcut on Ctrl+Button 6 or a way to grep for active
shortcuts?

Meanwhile, the consoles are flooded with the status report of the
