For me, if I removed indicator-applet, and use the Notification Area to store
the notification icons, the icon would be shown as an invalid red cross.

This time, I installed compiz, and set it as default window manager, after
login the window manager is gone again.
It's because of ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/session/required_components/%gconf.xml,
which I have attached here. Removing this file can start the window manager
correctly (compiz).

wm.desktop. I attached here. So why does it prevents a window manager
