[Bug 1883174] [NEW] Some desktop icons disappear

2020-06-11 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 20.04
GNOME: 3.36.2
Extension: 3.36.2

Sometimes, some icons in my Desktop folder just don't appear on the
desktop. The missing icons aren't invisible, it's like they're not in
the folder. Clicking on the empty space where they should be does
nothing. Mousing over the empty space does nothing. See attached
screenshot. As you can see, there are many missing.

Not consistently reproducible, but frequent.

This isn't great info, I know. Let me know what else I can provide.

you tried switching it off and on again?" is a poor and very temporary
solution to the problem since I've experienced it multiple times.

[Bug 1018724] [NEW] rhythmbox stops playing songs after one second

2012-06-28 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

Rhythmbox plays the first second or so of a song and then the audio
stops. The slider continues as normal, but there is no audio either from
my headphones or speakers. Changing to a different song does the same
thing. I have picked a song from the Dash, but subsequently, I tried
selecting one from RB, and the same thing happened.

[Bug 876290] Re: Ctrl+Alt+Del mapped to log out dialogue

2012-03-26 Thread Satchit Bhogle
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 890747 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890747

I believe this should no longer be considered a duplicate of bug
#890747. This bug refers to Ctrl+Alt+Del not having being mapped as the
primary bug. System Monitor is now being considered as the target.
However, this bug was filed in order to get a hotkey for system
shutdown, sleep, etc. The fact that it was previously Ctrl+Alt+Del is
only incidental.

[Bug 832007] Re: Don't display in "Startup Applications" should be reverted

2011-11-24 Thread Satchit Bhogle
There are hacks to remove bluetooth utterly. The OP perhaps wants to
remove bluetooth on his computer entirely, but the option of turning
bluetooth off by default should exist. Bluetooth is something that
should not be on except when needed, for safety reasons (though its
state on Ubuntu is not visible by default). Also, some users do not use
it, or use it rarely, so the process should not eat CPU resources
unnecessarily.

tl;dr version: The option to turn bluetooth off by default should exist.

[Bug 878767] Re: No GUI option to change week-starting day

2011-11-24 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Just a couple of things.
1. This is a really small thing that should be easy to fix. I don't think it
really requires that kind of debate if there are users requesting it.
2. If we're ever working with Google Calendar or something which DOES have this
preference, it may be useful to have this option.

[Bug 889940] Re: clicking on folder with open Nautilus instance should open in new tab

2011-11-13 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Put this down as Wishlist, if you like, but I would argue that this is
established behaviour in web browsers. There was a paradigm shift from
multiple windows to multiple tabs in order to reduce clutter, and all
major browsers on all PC and tablet platforms today subscribe to this
paradigm. It is easier to shift between tabs in the same window, as
compared to windows (which would require activating Scale when there are
several windows open). It is also easier to drag between tabs as the
distance travelled by the mouse would be smaller. Even without a mouse,
Ctrl+C, Alt+#, Ctrl+V is easier than switching windows because Alt+Tab
is now an application switcher rather than a window switcher.

[Bug 889940] [NEW] clicking on folder with open Nautilus instance should open in new tab

2011-11-13 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable 32-bit
Application: Nautilus 3.2.1

When you open a folder placed on the desktop or open a desktop from the
Dash when an instance of Nautilus is already open, the folder should
open in a new tab instead of a new instance. This makes file transfer,
etc easier and reduces the clutter on the desktop.

[Bug 875179] Re: Pressing eject button in nautilus does not safely remove device

2011-10-17 Thread Satchit Bhogle
"Unmount" removes a single mounted partition, whereas "safely remove"
removes all partitions. An observable difference include the disk's
continued presence in both Nautilus and Disk Utility. Further, for disks
containing multiple partitions, it would be better for all partitions to
be removed using the "eject button" rather than just the one.

[Bug 876290] [NEW] Ctrl+Alt+Del mapped to log out dialogue

2011-10-17 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable

Ctrl+Alt+Del used to be the keymapping for offering Shutdown, Restart,
Sleep, Hibernate, etc, with the focus on Shutdown. Ergo, it was a quick
way of shutting down the computer via keyboard. In Oneiric, this has
been remapped to throwing up the Log Out dialogue. This leaves no easy
way to shut down the computer using the keyboard. Even Alt+F4, which is
used to shut down applications (presumably for the comfort of users
migrating from Windows), does not throw up the Shut Down dialogue.

A mouse should not be necessary to shut down the computer (and running a
search in Dash is just illogical).

[Bug 876217] [NEW] "Create new document" in context menu contains nothing

2011-10-16 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable
Application: Nautilus 3.2.0

The "Create New Document" option in the context menu in Nautilus (and
therefore on the Desktop) only offers the misleading "Empty Document"
which creates a text file in gedit (thereby being useless to people
expecting the ability to create LibreOffice documents), and otherwise
states "No templates installed". The option to create other files should
exist by default, else this menu entry should be scrapped.

[Bug 873940] [NEW] pressing enter in search field does not cycle through search results

2011-10-14 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable
Application: gedit 3.2.0

Pressing Enter to Find Next in a search field is an intuitive and
natural thing. However, in gedit, pressing Enter after entering a search
string merely finds the first instance of that string and closes the
search field, meaning that subsequent pressing of Enter works as a line
break.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty stable

See attached image.
This is a minor problem, and does not seriously hamper the clicking of the
Install button. However, it is ugly and clearly a bug.

[Bug 846557] [NEW] opening image in gimp duplicates places

2011-09-10 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty stable
Application: GIMP 2.6.11

See attached image.
When opening an image in GIMP by browsing for it, Pictures and Documents appear
twice. When Documents or Pictures is clicked on from the list below the
separator, the instance above the separator is highlighted, which is unexpected.

Minor bug.
