[Bug 890143] [NEW] selecting preffered applications is not an info

2011-11-14 Thread Schwarzburg
Public bug reported:

I was looking for 10 minutes for the 'preffered applications' dialog,
because I remembered that there was one in earlier versions of Ubuntu.
Now that I have found the dialog, I know why it was so hard to find: The
'system setting' button that leads to this dialog is labeled System
info. This clearly does NOT reflect that fact that you can edit
preferences there. This should be changed into something more
meaningful.

[Bug 710538] [NEW] gnome-panel seems to depend on evolution

2011-01-31 Thread Schwarzburg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Problem: my gnome-panel dissapeared from one login to the next, after I removed
some software that I don't need (and therefore don't want on my laptop).
I only ever use googlemail and therefore wanted to get rid of evolution and
thunderbird. After clicking on remove in software-center, everything was
seemingly fine. But after a shutdown and restart, I had no more panels.
It seems that the gnome-panel and a lot of other software was silently removed
from my system while I removed evolution.

To me this is very clearly a bug, although I not sure where. My first
guess is, that gnome-panel should not depend on evolution, but it could
also be assumed that software-center should have warned me.

[Bug 560788] [NEW] can not copy cd because device busy error

2010-04-11 Thread Schwarzburg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I try to copy an audio cd.
Source and destination device are the same.
I first insert the source cd, then the content will be ripped to a temporary
location. Then a dialog appears that tells me to replace the audio cd with a
writeable cd, then the burning would automatically start.
I insert the blanc cd.
Then the device spinns up and I get two dialogs: one is from the automounting
(I guess Nautilus, I have not changed it from the standard installation) and
one is from brasero. The automouting dialog asks what I want to do with a blanc
cd and the brasero dialog sais that the device is busy. I can only click on
view log, save log and close. But whatever I click, the complete cd
copying stops and I have to completely start again. (which will then fail
again...)

A solution would be to not exit brasero just because the device is busy
for a short time. Or to stop the automounting while brasero is running.
