OK, this bug regressed for me after upgrading to Karmic.
I still had the script (pdftops) mentioned earlier in this bug report, using
dpkg-divert
I removed the divert and restored the pdftops.real, but no difference.
I checked the tools on
OK, installing the
brother-cups-wrapper-laser package
and reconfiguring my printer solved this for now. (I hav a Brother MFC-

Hi Till,
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, been busy.
$ nc -w1 procyon 9100 testpage-a4-pdftops-xpdf.ps
-- does NOT solve the problem, so didn't test further with xpdf-utils
then removed line 719:

printer prints page at wrong
- generic printer - problem remains
- hardy: print evince or lpr: problem remains the same, same shift
- test pages
* evince: print ok
* original: print ok (but low quality)
* pdftops: print shifted (1.7 cm)
- front panel menu on printer: no paper settings available, so n/a; via
I just tested both scripts, and both solve the problem for me.
I kept the second 'in production' for now. Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks for your support!

I get the same behaviour. I also think it is a crash on shutdown, as I
only get a crash report whilst Gaim still is running.
