It seems like this only happens with certain themes... After switching
my window borders to New Wave it seems like it's not happening
anymore. It also doesn't happen when using compiz, even with themes that
screw up metacity.
The original poster also mentioned that he uses multiple monitors, and

This bug and all of the duplicates show Display Properties setting the
virtual resolution to 2048x2048.
In bug #425760, Jani Monoses suggested a possible solution, by changing
if int(self.resolution[0]) int(self.optimal_virtual_resolution[0]) or \
int(self.resolution[1])
Hi edhelas,
Would you mind attaching your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file after you attempt
to enable the extended desktop in gnome-display-properties and log out
and in?
Also, what are the resolutions of your two monitors? Are they both
1280x800?
Thanks!

Binary package hint: metacity
Sometimes when I attempt to close, maximizes, minimize or move a window,
metacity will for some reason pick the wrong window to do the action on.
Some examples:
- A terminal is maximized in front of a maximized firefox window and when I
close

metacity sometimes closes/maximizes/minimizes/moves the wrong window
I've seen the same thing with the DVDs. It was really confusing because
totem appeared to be having troubles with the DVD and when I closed it,
I could still hear the DVD playing. I was really confused til I realized
it was playing in the other session...

Auto-launch applications multi-user
Are there any security issues with using the users theme in an program
running as root? If not, it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to
do. (Although I don't really know the specifics of how that works)
Considering that to even get to that point the user has to have admin
access, and that
I'm not really sure if you're agreeing with me or not..
I agree that a user installing a theme shouldn't impact the system
configuration, that's why I was saying that gksu should just allow the
root application to use the users theme. (i.e. the one in ~/.themes)

ok.. some more details..
I tried creating another user and logging in as that one, and it works
just fine. Logging in as my user still causes nautilus to crash however.

Hmm, ok, I restarted the computer and now everything is back to normal.
I guess nautilus was running the whole time, even though I had logged

nautilus can get stuck into a state where it will get stuck in a loop
continually crashing whenever it starts up
I am surprised that after two years this bug has still not been fixed.
Has anyone even started trying to fix it? Have the developers even
discussed the problem? The bug is very visible, every user that installs
a custom theme will see it when they use synaptic or any gksu app.

Just upgraded to gutsy, I'm not sure if this was in feisty or not.
If you go to the preferences in nautilus you can set the default zoom
level. I set it to 75% there, but in the actual view itself that option
seems to correspond to 67%..
I'm now attaching the crash file
