[Bug 1857383] Re: Fractional scaling does not work anymore

2020-04-26 Thread Simone Liguori
Thanks Thomas. I agree bug 1874559 seems more pertinent, I didn't notice
it. I copied my comment there.

[Bug 1874559] Re: Fractional Scaling resets after reboot

2020-04-26 Thread Simone Liguori
I'm copying my comment from bug 1857383 as I think this one is more
pertinent. I'm on xorg, you can find the apport information in bug
1857383 starting comment #22.

Using the NVIDIA driver I was affected by bug 1870736 and bug 1873403.
I moved to the Nouveau drivers and the issues above were gone.

However, I notice a strange issue with display settings persistence.

I have 2 screens (HDMI3-3 FHD, DP-1 4K primary), which I'd like to have
respectively at 100% and 150% scale:
$ xrandr | grep " connected"
DP-1 connected primary 5120x2880+3840+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 607mm x 345mm
HDMI-3 connected 3840x2160+0+302 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
160mm x 90mm

Whenever I set the 4K screen to 150% scale, any changes won't persist
after reboot. If I change any other settings (like changing screen
positions), leave scale as 100%, the changes I make do persist on
reboot.

If after reboot I attempt to set 4K screen to 150% not only the change
won't persist after reboot, but it will go back to the initial state
(effectively undoing the previous changes too).

How do I reproduce the issue:

1) Ensure my system is on Nouveau drivers
2) HDMI-3 (FHD) is currently on the right, DP-1 (4K) on the left
3) Display settings, swap screen positions: HDMI-3 (FHD) on the left, DP-1 (4K)
on the right
4) Reboot
5) Verify changes persisted: HDMI-3 (FHD) is on the left, DP-1 (4K) on the right
6) Set DP-1 scale to 150%
7) Reboot
8) Verify not only changes didn't persist, but the status is back as 2), with
screens going back to their original position

[Bug 1793595] Re: [radeon] Shell freezes, mostly when running chrome or editing text files.

2019-05-25 Thread Simone Tolotti
I can confirm this bug is an upstream bug.
I moved from Ubuntu to Fedora for this reason but it's still present even on
the latest Fedora 30 with kernel 5.0.17.
Gnome shell (xorg or wayland) freezes mostly when using Chrome, I can't get Sys
info during the freeze because keyboard and mouse aren't responding.
No issues on KDE Plasma desktop.
Tested on my work laptop (above 8 hours daily activity), Gnome freezes 4/5
times a day.

Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Topaz XT
[Radeon R7 M260/M265 / M340/M360 / M440/M445] (rev c1)

It also happens on my home desktop PC with Radeon HD7000.

[Bug 1726688] Re: totem media player in the Ubuntu dock right click menu does not work, rewind does not work, nor full screen works

2019-01-09 Thread Simone Piccardi
I made some debugging about this issue. It is due to the action names in
the .desktop file not corresponding to the DBus actions of totem, plus
the mute action isn't among the one implemented in totem.

I made a patch to fix the names and add the mute action to totem. This
is my first contribution to Ubuntu so please tell me if there's
something wrong.

Tested under Ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10

If I am the only one in this situation, close the ticket. It might
still be more related to server than else. But with Outlook or

Re: [Bug 1696618] Re: Certain emails are not loaded properly via IMAP+

2018-07-19 Thread Simone Lussardi
Hello,

I have to say it happens very rarely with newer versions, it's much more
stable on my computer. But on another slower computer, it tend to happen
more frequently. I have found a workaround, which is deleting all local
cache of evolution, forcing it to resync the messages.

I can give you a mail account on my server if it helps for testing it
out. Might be the server/client combination problem too.

Thank you,
Cheers,
Simone

[Bug 1724250] [NEW] gnome-terminal graphic artifact

2017-10-17 Thread Simone Bordet
Public bug reported:

Opening gnome-terminal in Ubuntu 17.10 shows the terminal window with a
graphic artifact on the right of the title bar, where the window buttons
to minimize, maximize and close are.

The window buttons are working so this is just a visual glitch and does
not otherwise affect gnome-terminal functionalities.

It does not matter whether the gnome-terminal window is maximized or
not, the graphic artifact is always present and does not disappear
hovering on it with the mouse.

Other applications do not appear to be affected, only gnome-terminal.

I'm using NVIDIA Corporation GM204M [GeForce GTX 970M] with the NVIDIA
binary driver 384.90.

2017-10-07 Thread Simone Bordet
I tried also: sudo su -c 'echo 10 >
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness'.

Pressing the Fn keys brings up the OSD brightness control, which
reflects the value of the /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
file (and viceversa), but the actual screen brightness does not change.

@brinstar, yes I did the sudo update-grub part, and tried
acpi_brightness=[native|vendor] which for me makes the Fn hot keys not
working (when you press them, no brightness icon appears).

Last update brought in NVidia drivers 384.90, but no joy, the problem is
still present.

[Bug 1720438] Re: brightness control broken nvidia

2017-10-01 Thread Simone Bordet
Same problem here.

Ubuntu 17.10 beta 2
NVIDIA Corporation GM204M [GeForce GTX 970M]
Driver NVIDIA binary 375.82

Changing the brightness via Fn keys or via Settings/Power does not work.
Adding acpi_osi=Linux does nothing for me, the problem remains.

[Bug 1696618] [NEW] Certain emails are not loaded properly via IMAP+

2017-06-07 Thread Simone Lussardi
Public bug reported:

I'm pretty sure this is a bug, as it is not documented nor reported by
anyone else before.

1)
simone@simone-ThinkPad-T540p:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04

2)
simone@simone-ThinkPad-T540p:~$ apt-cache policy evolution
evolution:
  Installed: 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2
  Candidate: 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2
  Version table:
 *** 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2 500
500 http://ftp.sjtu.edu.cn/ubuntu xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://ftp.sjtu.edu.cn/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages

3)
This bug is ***serious, as it scares people away from Evolution. I have setup
my main email account as IMAP+. Most of the email are downloaded correctly, but
some of them are not. From the message source, it seems that is a MULTIPART
message, and not all parts are loaded. When the problem happens, all headers
are not displayed when previewing the mail, but somehow the "From" in the list
is correct. To view the email, I have to use my phone (K9 Mail) or Thunderbird.
I am really wanting to switch to Evolution because I think is an overall
better, more performing and more integrated program, but this stupid bug is
causing me to think it over.

4)
I expect to see the message when I click it... not empty

If you need any further info, like the complete exact message source
code, I **can** provide it (nothing secret in there).

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-09-11 Thread Simone
Don't know if it is strongly related, but I think so.
I'm using Modelio 3.1 on Ubuntu 64 bit. Sometimes, apparently without a
specific sequence pattern, Modelio closes; other times, it doesn't allow to
make any type of operations (i.e. when I right click on an element, it doesn't
show anything). I don't know what the problem is. If I launch it from the
terminal, it always returns error message like this

Modelio 3:10699): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_closure_unref: assertion
'closure-ref_count 0' failed
or this

(Modelio 3:10699): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 20104 was not found when
attempting to remove it

The error message returned in the log file is

[Bug 906084] [NEW] Add feature: send input to multiple tabs/windows

2011-12-18 Thread Simone Bordet
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10, gnome-terminal 3.0.1-0ubuntu3.

I am often using multiple tabs to connect via SSH to different, but
identically configured, servers. KDE's Konsole and many other terminal
emulators offer the capability to copy the input from one tab to other
tabs and/or other windows.

In Konsole, this feature is under Edit/Copy Input To... and allows to
choose among All tabs in current window or Select tabs... or None
to disable the feature.

Currently I am using Ubuntu and I have to install all KDE/Qt
dependencies required by Konsole just for this functionality.

Would it be possible to add this feature to gnome-terminal ?

[Bug 879923] Re: No file transfers possible with cell phones, regression since oneiric alpha

2011-11-22 Thread Simone Lussardi
Hello Guys, are you going to do something about this ? Need any help
with it ? Is pretty much embarassing... For me personally, I cannot
mount my phone or any other devices over Bluetooth, so even Gammu is not
working (to backup phone data), and have to resort back to 1920s USB
cable connection.

Downloaded daily build of 12.04 LTS today and much to my disappointment
I can see that the bug is still there, rendering Bluetooth almost
totally useless. Tried to report the bug but ubuntu-bug failed with an
error message... oh well...

2011-11-22 Thread Simone Lussardi
Forgot to mention: the interface of Bluetooth is totally useless, after
mounting the device the list is about 2 pixels high, rendering
impossibile to pick the device for browsing (both in 11.10 and
12.04...).

And this is what happen when I try to browse:
Oct 28 10:24:40 simone-ThinkPad-T400 obex-data-server: sdp_extract_seqtype:

This bug is terribly similar to the GVFS related bug I had once I tried
to upgrade my libimobiledevice on my 10.04 Lucid installation. At the
time, I upgraded an iPhone OS and wasn't unable to connect anymore.
Found a fix for the library, but it required to upgrade also GVFS. After
I did, I got exactly that problem and that error. Seems a reincarnated
bug...

2011-10-25 Thread Simone Lussardi
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 872044 ***

It is not a duplicated bug. Essentially I get the same problem with my
Nokia phone and Bluetooth (Lenovo T400 laptop). Worked like a charm with
10.04, 10.10, 11.04, then I did the upgrade to 11.10 and while I *can*
send/receive files from either my laptop or the phone (bi-directional) I
*cannot* browse the device. After the second attempt, entire Bluetooth
applet crashes on Unity and to re-open it I have to restart the
computer.

I love the scissor idea, maybe it could be used in combination with the
dimmed effect. I think the mouseover effect is necessary because you
can open the file, move it around, until you paste the file in another
place and least but not last you could simple change idea.

The issue only happens when I'm connected with a 3G modem (ppp0 interface).

gome-system-monitor correctly displays the network usage , the system
monitor applet not!

I've noticed that the flavor of net monitor in the applet has changed to
yellow since Jaunty, but I don't think the issue is related to the
color... ;-)

[Bug 329660] [NEW] Totem don't work well with Metacity composite shadow

2009-02-15 Thread Simone Malacarne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

My system is a Ubuntu 64bit Intrepid. I use a ATI X800 with standard ATI driver
(the free one, 6.9). I have activeted metacity composite support (on
gconf-editor turn on compositing_manager key).
All work fine, windows has shadow, terminal transparency work.

With Totem if a play a video or i'm playing a song with visual effects
shadows are not correct when over the video. They are like a solid black
box. Transparency doesn't work at all (over the video).

Expected result:
Shadows and trasparency should work even on the video.

[Bug 70023] Re: Cannot print multiple copies of PDF files

2008-10-21 Thread Simone Tolotti
I've opened a pdf document and clicked on print , I choose to print
2..3..4...(1) copies of this single page document.
Despite of the number of copies I've selected only one sheet is printed!
As I previously explained thisd bug is not happening with all files, but only
with PostScript files.
In this case the document infos reports PS-Adobe-3.0 as format.

Maybe you should check that the new package has been compiled with
support for libspectre as stated in upstream fix.

2008-10-21 Thread Simone Tolotti
Well... I'm talking about a PostScript file (PS-Adobe-3.0). ATM I have NO
issue with PDF files.
I'm not the first reporter of this bug and I can't be sure that it's only
related to PS files.
Do I have to change the title to Cannot print multiple copies of PS files?

I can't publish this document here, can I send it directly to you?

[Bug 70023] Re: Cannot print multiple copies of PDF files

2008-10-21 Thread Simone Tolotti
I think you didn't understand the problem.
The upstream bug that is linked to this is reported by me, and it tals about
postscript documents.
What I said is that I am not sure that this bug is only related to PS documents.
In my case it is, but if you read the upstream bug you can understand that for
other people the problem is with PDFs.
Unfortunately, some files downloaded from the web with .pdf extension are in
reality .ps .
So it is difficult to say whether these are two different bugs or not.

In each case the alert was made upstream so if you can leave the bug
closed. I'll wait for some answers on gnome bugzilla.

I've installed Intrepid on my system but I can't test totem 2.23.x because
there is a regression in the kernel and my dvb device is not recognized atm.

[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.

2008-06-30 Thread Simone Tolotti
@Alexander:
I'm glad to see that ~network-manager PPA was updated.
At the time I've added dalbers' ppa to my sources.list, ~network-manager PPA
was stuck at svn20080121.
Hope you'll keep it updated in the future. Thanks.

restore the window clicking on the tray icon...
No issues with the original version of the plugin.

2008-06-27 Thread Simone Tolotti
If you want to try nm-0.7 you should add dalbers' ppa following this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=797059

Working great for me!
