Freecell bug 245840 is still live, I've replicated the same problem on my machine. As per comment from Pedro Villavicencio I have forwarded this bug upstream to the GNOME bugzilla. Bug 600092 - Valid move of cards is not recognized / permitted. I have changed the status of this bug to
