[Bug 86749] Re: evince does not automatically set or remember the paper size
I've the same problem, but as I can remember it only occurs if the system language is set to english(US States). From other PCs I know that evince can remember papersize A4, but there the default language is German(Germany). So it definitely has to do with language settings.
