[Bug 871103] [NEW] cannot create symlinks on smb share mounted with gvfs
Public bug reported: When I mount an smb share with gvfs (e.g. through Nautilus), I expect that symlinks can be created on that filesystem. This is possible if I use mount -t cifs instead, but that is a more manual and less flexible process that should not be necessary. To reproduce: 1. in Nautilus, mount an smb/cifs share with smb://address 2. right-click a file/directory in the nautilus view 3. from the context menu, pick Make Link Expected behaviour: A link to the selected file/directory should be created, as would occur on a local ext4 filesystem Actual behaviour: I get an error saying The target doesn't support symbolic links. My guess is that this is because gvfs' smb implementation doesn't implement the kind of UNIX extensions that the Samba cifs client uses. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/871103 Title: cannot create symlinks on smb share mounted with gvfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/871103/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 573661] [NEW] gnome-volume-control slider moves both Master and PCM
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media When I try to adjust the output volume with gnome-volume-control or gnome-volume-control-applet, both the Master and PCM are affected. To reproduce: 1. open gnome-volume-control or gnome-volume-control-applet 2. open alsamixer (in a terminal) or gnome-alsamixer 3. use the slider in gnome-volume-control or gnome-volume-control-applet to change the volume At this point, the Master slider in (gnome-)alsamixer should move along with the gnome-volume-control slider you are manipulating. What I am seeing instead is *both* the master and PCM sliders moving. The end result to the user is that the first volume step up from mute is quite loud. This problem does not occur if I change the sliders in alsamixer or gnome-alsamixer. The error first showed during the Ubuntu 9.10 cycle (it did not exist for previous releases), and it still exists in 10.04. I don't have it in Windows XP. I am using a Dell Inspiron E1705/9400 laptop with the snd-hda-intel kernel module. [Bug 573661] Re: gnome-volume-control slider moves both Master and PCM
Try this: 1. open gnome-volume-control and gnome-alsamixer 2. in gnome-volume-control, drag the Output volume slider to 0 (but don't mute) 3. start playing some audio in another application 4. slowly start dragging the Output volume slider up, and watch the Master and PCM sliders in gnome-alsamixer What you will see is for about the first 10% of the Output volume slider, the PCM slider goes up. No sound can be heard when this is happening. Once the PCM hits maximum, the Master starts to increase. Only at this point will you start to hear sound. The problem is at this point the volume goes from nothing to loud instantly. There is no gradient. The workaround, as mentioned above, is to use alsamixer instead of the volume control. -- gnome-volume-control slider moves both Master and PCM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573661 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 400749] [NEW] Copy deltas to update/resume files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Nautilus should be able to resume or update file copying/moving by transferring only deltas.
