Re: [Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around
My HP G62-121EE laptop has libupower-glib1 and upower installed but it shows just laptop battery (estimating)... :-( But if I click the menu, the power statistics shows correct values for the Energy, charge, battery capacity, etc. Probably the developers could introduce a daemon which monitors the battery charge during discharge, compare the value with battery capacity, and compute the estimated time remaining from the 2nd minute, every minute :-) This would be a machine/driver independent code and also be intelligent enough to show correct statistics, even if the user changes his power-management schemes. An important note, though, is to have a timer ticking (restart the timer after *suspend*-resume/ *sleep-*resume/ power-on) for the daemon itself, instead of using system clock. This is necessary, else the computation would be wrong if a user resumes the session after a sleep or hibernate. Worse still, it would be inaccurate if the user has changed the battery after a hibernate! On Mon, Nov 29, 2010 at 10:33 PM, Philip Guyton phil.lx...@googlemail.comwrote: I have just come across this problem again with another machine (my previous post #107 was concerning a Compaq Presario A900 (bios f.33) ) This time it is with an HP Pavilion dv8000. again whilst on battery:- cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/current_now 0 so no drain info available so this time I installed Andy Eyre's libupower-glib1 and upower from Brian Rogers hand ppa and the system now has working estimates of discharge and charge. Re: [Bug 240116] Re: Default File Naming in nautilus
Dear Mr A.Walton, The template is the same. I shall give you an example of a situation. In my ~/Templates folder, there is a file called New Word Document.odf With this, if I right click somewhere in nautilus or the desktop, in the context menu, I get the opportunity to create documents identical to New Word Document.odf. That is the very aim of Templates, i.e., to make life easier, to avoid several clicks to search for open office [or any type of document] each time if one wants to create that type of document. The mistake here is like this: If one has created a new document of that template, named as New Word Document.odf then when he creates the 2nd new document of that template, then: Instead of giving the default name of the 2nd document as New Word 1.odf, [This is an automatic naming] it names it as New Word.odf 1, i.e., instead of naming 1 at the end of the name, it rather appends 1 even after the extension , that is, odf, here. This makes nautilus think that odf 1 is a new type of a file. I sincerely hope that the information that you require has been detailly described. These are small technical mistakes that may go unnoticed, however, people new to gnome or linux will not know to handle correctly. [They wont know that the mistake is caused due to extension error.] Thanking You, Yours sincerely, --SRIRAM -- Default File Naming in nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240116 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 240116] [NEW] Default File Naming in nautilus
