[Bug 862474] [NEW] Backlight control for dell_backlight is missing in gsd-backlight-helper
Public bug reported: Hi, Since a quite a while backlight management on my notebook (Dell Latitude D830) is quite broken. It started when a patch to manage the backlight in the kernel intel-driver was introduced. Here is the deal: My notebook normally uses the kernel interface dell_backlight. This worked perfectly until the above patch was introduced. New gsd- backlight-helper chooses intel_backlight as the standard interface. When using this, i can still control the backlight but because intel_backlight assumes 255 steps instead of the correct 7 steps of dell_backlight, gnome-settings-daemon can't correctly set and get the values. After patching the file gsd-backlight-helper.c (Adding dell_backlight as an additional kernel-interface) the backlight management is back to normal. Please see the attachment for more details. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/862474 Title: Backlight control for dell_backlight is missing in gsd-backlight- helper To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/862474/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 684649] Re: Nautilus desktop icons should never be under the launcher
Would it not be better to add an additional gconf-key to enable the additional margin in Unity instead of hard-coding it into the binary? Or maybe a new startup option which only Unity calls (Like --unity-mode)? Or maybe Nautilus should look for a variable like UNITY_EXTRA_MARGIN or something else? At the moment the extra margin is very annoying when using the classic mode. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684649 Title: Nautilus desktop icons should never be under the launcher -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 192624] Re: Segmentation fault in rhythmbox
There is a very easy workaround for this bug : Reactivate the display cover-plugin in Rhythmbox. This can be done with gconf-editor : /apps/rhythmbox/plugins/artdisplay/active has to be set to true. After this Rhythmbox works normally. -- Segmentation fault in rhythmbox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 122602] Re: Duplicated entries in Places Menu
This bug seems to be related to the package xdg-user-dirs. The bug first occured when i've installed this package. When you deinstall the package and recreate another user, the bug does not occur. For your normal user, you have to logout, delete all gnome-related directories (i know this is a brutal method, but i haven't found another working solution) and than login again. Now all the duplicate entries should have gone away. -- Duplicated entries in Places Menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
