> 1. does on the system running also take quite some time if you do like "systemctl stop irqbalance"? I have tested this now multiple times by stopping and starting it again and all looked fine. > 2. I'd assume that systemd concurrently stops multiple things and irqbalance > is just the last to print but not the one you are actually waiting on. Based on the above this might be true. So is it a known issue that systemd prints wrong things? I think this is an issue that should be actually fixed before tinkering around on every shutdow delay issue (also [1] blames that [2] isn't reliable enough so it would eventually also make sense to wait for [1]'s implementation). ** Changed in: irqbalance (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1729192 Title: Shutdown needs often longer than usual To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irqbalance/+bug/1729192/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1718231] [NEW] Mismatch in type-ahead search of the GTKFileChooser causes the first file to get the focus
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 17.10 dev with libgtk-3-0 3.22.19-0ubuntu1 and initially this issue was reported at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764668 . If the GTKFileChooser gets opened and something is typed that causes a mismatch the first file gets deselected but instead it gets now a focus (which it hadn't before) which might be a bug. ** Affects: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718231 Title: Mismatch in type-ahead search of the GTKFileChooser causes the first file to get the focus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1718231/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 964775] Re: Boot is delayed due to missing static network interface
The boot is still delayed even with systemd 232-21ubuntu2 on Ubuntu 17.04 dev if something causes the network not to get up (for example as it is happening here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1681190 ). Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 17.04 dev with systemd 232-21ubuntu2 and I'm using an automounter which does also mount discs in optical drives and on having a damaged disk (from too much overwriting) in /dev/sr0 inserted I'm getting I/O errors as expected (blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 0) but the console shows then "A start job is running for Raise network interfaces" with a maximum time of 5 minutes and 2 seconds which doesn't progress until I'm ejecting the disc in /dev/sr0. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681190 Title: I/O errors on disc from optical drive can block raising the network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1681190/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 11334]
Is there any reason why this ticket is marked as INVALID? Even if this will still need a while I think we should not stop working on it. Maybe another possible solution would be to implement this as an optional API that doesn't require to drop support for legacy applications (at least not in the near future). Developers can make use of this API for copy/cut/paste in their applications and old applications will still act in the current way - either a clipboard manager will take care of this or the clipboard gets lost. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to a duplicate bug report (36165). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/11334 Title: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/abiword/+bug/11334/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1216788] Re: #!/usr/bin/python files and similar variants are not shown as executable files
1. are the files executable in the terminal? if so, you should check the executable flags. this may be obvious, but it's worth looking into. I think this needs more clarification after this long time. The files affected by this bug have there gear icon on the file missing (that I was refering to in the startpost as executable files which wasn't accurate). They look then just like simple text files. 2. are they only files that use #!/usr/bin/python? what about python3? what about #!/usr/bin/env python? for that matter, where does /usr/bin/python point to? it is a symbolic link after all. At least Python 2, Python 3 and C files are currently affected by this bug (but PCManFM is correctly detecting the file types and I got the hint in the PCManFM tracker that this bug is probably related to an icon-theme). But I remember to have encountered more file types in the past. furthermore, what are the versions of everything are we talking about? what 14.10 image? a release or a daily image? which one? what is the last version you can say this was working with? In SciTE on the menu bar - Help - About SciTE does also contain the information Version 3.4.2 compiled for GTK+ 3.10.8 so maybe the previous compiled versions were just incompatible. ** Changed in: scite (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260236 Title: Flickering after upgrading libgtk-3-0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/1260236/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 819842] Re: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal
Are you sure that this is the correct behavior? Some time before I have opened this ticket it worked like expected: If I have started an application in the background I could close the terminal without closing the application. The only explanation would be that another process become the new parent (maybe init). At least the BadWindow error doesn't appear anymore. [Bug 819842] Re: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal
If you want to start an arbitrary program, use the run dialog (ALT-F2) – this is what it's for. I have never thought to use this but it is a good idea. Not init (exit from the desktop session and see that the program in question is closed). I don't know it but with nohup the process will be a direct child of init after closing the terminal. But at least I have now some ways to solve this problem and with the BadWindow message fixed here is nothing more to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/819842 Title: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/819842/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 819842] Re: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal
If so then do not use nohup for this purpose. Is there a special reason? For example I'm opening htop to watch the process list and after this I'm opening a new terminal and executing nohup scite /dev/null 21 in it: | /sbin/init |- x-terminal-emulator -e htop |-- /bin/bash |--- scite | ... After closing the terminal: | /sbin/init |- scite | ... Calling scite directly with Alt+F2: | /sbin/init |- scite | ...
