I re-installed Ubuntu 8.04 to my workplace PC from alternate-install CD
and now the weather applet works perfectly.

I also have the same problem. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 to my home-PC
(installation from 32-bit alternate installation CD to empty hard-drive)
and the weather-data works perfectly. However, I upgraded my workplace
PC from 7.10 to 8.04 and the time-date applet does not show the weather
data.
