I can confirm the issue still exists with a fully up to date hardy. If
you disable compiz, there is no wierdness, but with compiz on, the
wierdness I originally reported happens.

When you browse a windows network share with nautilus, the mounted gvfs
volume shows as an icon on the desktop. However the volume doesn't show
up in the disk mounter applet.
