I am also affected by this bug on Lenovo Thinkpad with: Intel® Core™ i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz × 8 and 256GB SSD. But it seems it is not hardware related. Tried the workarounds, none work, the systems is still sluggish and freezing while copying (both nautilus and command line) 6GB file to USB. The copy rate is also low - towards the end just 3-4 MB/s. The system partition is ext4, not btrfs like suggested above. The distribution is 17.04
