in ubuntu 14.04 (this update included gnome-keyring 3.10.1-1ubuntu4.1)
When I start a gnome-terminal with alt+F2, the environment is OK
(SSH_AUTH_SOCK set)
When I start a terminal using a keyboard shortcut, the env is OK too

Confirmed having the exact same problem still today using 14.04 LTS.
What ever I use for my login user name fails to work.

It changes the behaviour completely and therefore disrupts people's
existing workflow. Therefore it should be configurable, or at least have
an option to set a delay.
I would do anything to get the old behaviour back!
