[Bug 1668976] [NEW] Gimp forgets the font in the text layer

2017-03-01 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

I have recorded a quick video of this bug:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9A6bP1s8_o

To summarise:
After setting the font of the text in the text layer, the correct font and
colour are not being displayed. Justification is displayed correctly.

When i type in the centre of the text, everything is normal.
When i substitute the entire text or begin to type at the first character mark,
the incorrect font is used.

[Bug 1540759] Re: Mouse cursor appears in the wrong position in Gimp

2016-02-10 Thread Volodya
I have managed to resolve the problem by removing .gimp-2.8 and
restarting gimp.

I have kept the old version of the directory around, and am willing to
upload it somewhere if it will help to resolve this bug.

I should clarify that no such things happen in any other application.

My hardware section has: Additional Drivers, Bluetooth Manager, Display,
Keyboard, Mouse and Touchpad, Network Connections, Power Manager,
Printers, Removable Drives and Media. None of these can be abbreviated
as ARandR, so i don't understand what i should be checking.

[Bug 1540759] [NEW] Mouse cursor appears in the wrong position in Gimp

2016-02-01 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

If you take a look at this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48XLvblnz7A i show there what the
problem is.

But i'll describe it textually here:

What i do:
Open any image in Gimp
Select any tool and try to work with it on the image
The cursor that is applying that tool is not where the mouse cursor of the
Operating System is

It should be noted that i'm on a dual monitor machine and that the
"fake" cursor moves slower than the real one. So it maybe related to
that.

I am yet to find a workaround this problem (apart from opening the
window on both screens and hoping to be able to hit the right spot.

[Bug 1108637] Re: backspace key no longer works in nautilus

2013-11-27 Thread Volodya
Microsoft has attempted to do the same thing in the trial run of
Nashville (it was the OS that was later turnt into Windows 98), they
have removed "up" from the Explorer and kept only Forward and Back. This
was a disaster (and anybody with any brain can understand why, if you
went from a different directory there is no way to go up one level,
since 'Back' takes you to a completely different point of the directory
tree).

So, the question becomes, if even Microsoft was intelligent enough to
return this feature, why did *anybody* in the free software community
decide that it was good to remove it. Even the idiots who removed
buttons from the phone or made something too small to be useful as a
computer and too large to be a mobile (Apple, Inc) wouldn't dream of
doing something as stupid as this outside of some test audience.

[Bug 1245627] [NEW] Opening a directory with thousands images kills nautilus

2013-10-28 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

This maybe related to Bug #243336 but i am not sure.

Opening a directory with thousands of image files locks Nautilus.
Pressing 'go back' or 'go one level up' does nothing until all the files are
actually loaded.

It would be just an inconvenience, but this also happens in the Open a
File Dialogue, making it impossible to (for example) upload anything
from that directory (i can switch the file browser to view the
directory, but can't chose to use a different open file dialog.

[Bug 795388] [NEW] GEdit doesn't guess the encoding if file is opened with doubleclick

2011-06-09 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

To reproduce:
Open GEdit.
Write some text in cyrilic.
Save the file *with the Windows-1251* encoding.
Close the file.
Open the file through the "Open" dialog or through recently opened files within
GEdit.
File opens fine.
Now close GEdit, and open the file by double clicking on it.
File opens with gibberish (most likely thinking that it's a UTF8 file).

What i expect to happen.
There should be a setting allowing me to say that i want the encoding guessed
for the file when it's opened via double-click (or through the terminal).

Note: Guessing the encoding should *not* become the default feature.
UTF-8 should remain default. UTF-8 should never be broken once it works
correctly, the problem is with the old style encodings.

2011-01-25 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To reproduce:
Disable opening the media on mount in the nautilus settings.
Mount an external FTP server

What happens:
A new nautilus window opens displaying that server

What i expect to happen:
Nautilus should mount the external server, but only open a new window if one
would have opened on the media mount.

Nautilus 2.32.0

[Bug 705360] [NEW] Directory with many thumbnailable files takes too long to load

2011-01-20 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I am unsure if this has been reported, and where to report it exactly. I
have tried to search but unsuccessfully.

What i do:
Open nautilus
Click on the directory with many thumbnailable files, which have had thumbnails
generated already (such as you photo album)
Wait for a very long time.

What happens:
Nautilus waits until it matches a file with the thumbnail to show it at all.

What i expect to happen:
Nautilus should show all files and then slowly load up their thumbnails as it
matches files to thumbnails.

This is very annoying if you know exactly what you would like to open,
but it sometimes can take a few minutes to load my entire photo album
(thousands of photos) directory (i am then forced to delete
'.thumbnails' which forces reconstruction of all thumbnails).

This actually is a different error report. The fact that existance of the file
with the same name but different content leads to the data loss is not
necessarily related to the fact that pressing cansel leaves half copied files.

[Bug 515027] [NEW] Totem can't play HUFF videos

2010-01-31 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I'm sure that i could play FFVHUFF encoded videos with Totem before, but
now in Karmic something doesn't seem to work. I get the error that codec
is not found.

I have created a 5 second video file for testing purposes, it doesn't
play on my system on Totem, but plays perfectly fine with VLC. It's
encoded with ffmpeg with the FFVHUFF codec.

Only if the error is on the reading.

Use case:

disk: 102 meg free
file1 to be copied: 92 meg
file2 to be copied: 10 meg

we are copying both files in sequence to the disk
while the file is being copied other file writes 12 meg to the disk

what user would have expected is to be able to copy the 10 meg file only after
the error, but that would be impossible if 90 meg of the first file is still
sitting there.

This should be done with something like:
dd if=/media/cdrom/file.in.avi of=/home/user/file.out.avi

Graphical interface should really *not* leave half-made copies.

I really do hope that the zillion tasks will not all be just closed, it took me
some time to just test which games open correctly and which don't, then adding
issues to only those specific games took a while.

"Won't fix" would be a more understandable response from some of the teams
working on the games than "Invalid" in this case.

Definitely an issue with the specific softwares, as there are other games which
open in the centre of the screen just fine. Also some of the games described
open up slightly off upper-left corner (20px or so) while others are touching
the border of the screen.

[Bug 221347] Re: Undelete copies and deletes the file rather than moving

2008-04-25 Thread Volodya
1. The specific steps can be found in 'To reproduce' section of my original
post (as well as 'example').
2. I expected undelete action to move the file from trash rather than copying
it and then deleting it from trash upon the successful copy.
3. I have encountered copying the file and then deleting it from trash

[Bug 221347] [NEW] Undelete copies and deletes the file rather than moving

2008-04-24 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Tried to post it as a confirmation to another bug but was told that it's
a separate issue:

To reproduce:
Create a large file (the large one will allow you to see the difference between
moving and copying+deleting)
Delete it
Note that the file gets moved to trash almost instantaniously.
Now try to move it from the trash back to where it was.
Note that the file first gets copied from trash, and only then deleted from
there.

It causes other problems besides the speed, for example:
Create the file more than 1/2 of your free disk space.
Delete it.
Try to undelete it by restoring it to the same disk.
You will not have enough disk space (that's because there is no space for the
second copy of the same file).

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 45750] Re: Moving files now copies them--even within same partition

2008-04-24 Thread Volodya
I can confirm that the nautilus copies and then deletes the files when
moving them from trash.

Delete it.
Try to undelete it by restoring it to the same disk.
You will not have enough disk space (that's because there is no space for the
second copy of the same file).

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-26 Thread Volodya
It is very clear that i was making a comparison with the download
indicator for *all* the packages, not the multiple small indicators. As
i have been talking about the old icon since the first post in this bug
it is clear that i am not asking for anything that looks "new".

I think the reason why you are purposefully "misunderstanding" what i
say is because you believe this to be a trivial issue, however, i have
talked to a friend of mine who has switched to Apple and believe it or
not his reasons are all "small", in fact we specifically talked about
file move dialogues with him. On OSX the icon doesn't change, but rather
the button on the bar representing the window of the move becomes a
progress bar in its own right. With the change in icon (regardless of
the reasoning behind it) nautilus and Ubuntu took a step backwards.

P.S. As i am getting upset about the treatment of the issue i'll
probably not post here for a day or two after this message. Don't want
it to become a flame.

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-26 Thread Volodya
> the new nautilus has one dialog which lists all the active copies,
what icon would you use when several of those are running?

When packages are downloaded from the repository there also are two
types of progress, one global for everything to finish and one for each
of the package file. One could apply the same idea to the icon for the
file move/copy.

[Bug 203868] Re: Icon on file move was more useful before

2008-03-25 Thread Volodya
To preproduce:
Copy or move large amount of files from one drive to another.
Notice that in the icon used in the panel for the file move/copy is the default
nautilus icon (i.e. a drawer chest)

I came to expect to have more detail in that icon (i.e. the progress of
the move/copy), and this behaviour did exist in all Ubuntu versions
prior to Alpha 6 that i've tried.

default Nautilus icon is used, is it possible to bring the old 'progress
