[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind

2024-05-15 Thread Alexey Fomin
Ok I think this is only happening when scale on the display is set, for
me it was 150%. The scale also affected some other windows which lost
borders and resize didn't work for them. After changing back to 100% the
issues seems to be gone but I really want to be able to scale my screen

[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind

2024-05-15 Thread Alexey Fomin
I'm having this same issue on Ubuntu 24, All IntelliJ IDEs are affected
including Android Studio (which is based on IntelliJ i think?) Didn't
notice with anything else. The only fix for me seems to be to minimize
all the other windows on the screen, if there is only desktop under
current window the issue is not happening

[Bug 2037577] [NEW] [mantic] dconf parameter color-scheme in /org/gnome/shell/ubuntu/ has no effect

2023-09-27 Thread Alexey Kulik
Public bug reported:

When the dconf parameter color-scheme in /org/gnome/shell/ubuntu/ is
modified, the GNOME Shell theme remains in the default state, i.e. it
switches between light and dark together with the ‘Dark Style’ toggle.
It is impossible to set the Shell theme to be unconditionally dark or
light.

To reproduce:

1. Run command
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.ubuntu color-scheme 'prefer-dark'
or modify the parameter color-scheme in /org/gnome/shell/ubuntu/ to be equal
'prefer-dark' via the Dconf Editor GUI.
2. Make sure that the ‘Dark Style’ toggle is deactivated in the quick settings.

What should happen:

The Shell dialogs like the quick settings menu and the
calendar-and-notifications menu should be rendered in dark style.

What happens instead:

The Shell dialogs are still light.

[Bug 1720438] Re: brightness control broken nvidia

I've found this forum thread:

https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/solus-nvidia-gtx-1070-brightness-

If I understand correctly, the OP resolved his issue by setting the
kernel boot parameter

nvidia.NVreg_EnableBacklightHandler=1

This did not solve the issue for me, however.

[Bug 1453514] Re: Highlighted text in pdf files is not shown on prints

2020-11-08 Thread Alexey
In fact, there seem to be multiple issues with printing annotations (at
least text highlighting).

This is about Evince 3.36.7 and Okular 20.08.2.

1. If a highlighting annotation is created in Evince, it is visible when
the file is opened with Evince, Okular, or Xournal++, but it disappears
on printing to PDF file from any of these programs, and it disappears on
exporting to PDF from Xournal++. (I believe it also disappears on actual
printing.)

2. If a highlighting annotation is created in Okular, it is visible in
Evince, Okular, and Xournal++, but when printing to PDF from Evince or
Xournal++, the first highlighting is ok, but all the others hide the
text that is supposed to be highlighted.

To add to my point 2: the same effect happens when using `pdftocairo` in
command line, so maybe the current issue is not about Evince.

It remains the problem with annotations created in Evince that just
disappear on printing.

[Bug 1370953] Re: layout switch is delayed

2019-06-08 Thread Alexey
Hello!

The problem is still here. In 17.10, 18.04, 18.10, 19.04 releases...

I found out that all standard layout switches are with that stupid delay.
But somehow the alternative switching on LShift+RShift works instantly!

I spent few hours to find the place where this action is stored to move
it to standard keybindings like Shfit+Alt, but failed.

May be someone can suggest the way how to find action on key binding in
Ubuntu to do this?

2018-08-01 Thread Alexey
Hm, after checking out the links Daniels provided, I am wondering if
this is not a duplicate or a different manifestation of bug #1774957...
I think I will not open a new upstream bug but will sign up to the
existing one: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/140

[Bug 1755986] Re: WiFi icon / settings gone from user menu

2018-08-01 Thread Alexey
Ok, thanks for the links to upstream bugs.

Julian, I propose the following title for GNOME bug report:

"WiFi/network icon and settings randomly disappear or misbehave in
status menu"

One more thing: I forgot to mention that I seem to observe the problem
randomly on roughly 1/2 of boots or logins. This made me think of some
"race condition"...

[Bug 1755986] Re: WiFi icon / settings gone from user menu

2018-07-31 Thread Alexey
In fact, the issue is not limited to wireless networks. The wired
connection options are also not displayed correctly. This screenshot
shows what I see in the menu when connected to wired network with wrong
profile.

By the way, after I reinstalled Ubuntu 18.04.1, the problem showed up
for the first time after I added a second wired profile... But I also
did some other things, so I am not sure it was caused by adding the
second profile.

2018-07-31 Thread Alexey
I think I am experiencing the same bug. Here is a screenshot of my
desktop with user menu when I am connected by WiFi.

By the way, I reinstalled Ubuntu 18.04.1 from scratch last week, but I
kept my user directory intact. I had this issue since upgrading to
18.04 from 17.10.

2017-08-29 Thread Alexey Nezhdanov
Alex, how much did you pay for your copy of Ubuntu?

The problem is frustrating, but:
1) these people don't owe you anything
2) this is FOSS - go and do it yourself
3) solutions do exist.

Drop that tone!

[Bug 1635830] [NEW] Nautilus window bar menu commands cause abnormal CPU usage and "freeze"

2016-10-22 Thread Alexey
Public bug reported:

When i select commands from Nautilus window bar menu such as "New Tab",
"New Folder", "Open in Terminal", the system freezes a bit and the
processor usage can reach 60% on a 6th generation Intel Core i7.

For example, "Open in Terminal" opens the terminal in the current folder
(as expected) and the cursor rapidly blinks for a few seconds, ignoring
attempts to type anything at the prompt.

This abnormal activity does not happen if i choose "New Folder" or "Open
in Terminal" from a pop-up menu, right-clicking in an empty space in the
Nautilus window.

I am using Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1. According to GNOME developers, GNOME 3.18 is
not supported anymore:

[Bug 1500412] [NEW] in a fresh gnome-terminal less hides some lines

2015-09-28 Thread Alexey Bashtanov
Public bug reported:

I perform the following:
1) open new terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T)
2) maximize it (205x58 on my monitor)
3) run less -XSRN ~/1.colordiff (see attached)
4) press end
5) press home

I expect: all lines and their numbers to be shown
I see: lines 14-18 and 21-25 absent

If I press end and home once more or if I exit less and run it once
more, the bug cannot be reproduced.

[Bug 1250979] Re: Nautilus forgets sidebar settings

2014-04-09 Thread Alexey Surinov
I would like to confirm this: i have at least 3 computers with Ubuntu
installed (13.10 64) - i do not know any way to close that sidebar
forever, that is very annoying to me, since i don't use it, but it eats
up a place on the screen, especially since two-panel was removed i'm
trying to workaround this opening two half-screen nautilus instances and
everytime i need to close that sidebar at least twice.

[Bug 1244548] Re: Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on lock screen

2013-11-05 Thread Alexey Taraskin
Confirmed. Same thing after an update from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10.

Layout indicator is always present for me on screensaver, but hotkeys
(Alt+Crtl) to change layout won't work. Have to click on the indicator
next to password field in order to change layout.

In Unity (regular work) switching layouts works fine.

2013-10-06 Thread Alexey Stulov
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 985065 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985065

Same problem. Ubuntu 12.04, lenovo thinkpad t530.

Last update crashed down at first start. Then it updated the system and
after reboot i have same problem.

I've tried to remove my native keyboard layout and after adding it back
i see in preview screen english letters instead of my native letters.
Then i tried to add any other languages(not my native and english) -
same reaction. Every time it was english layout.

So i went to system language menu and saw a warning not all language
packs were installed. After Ok and installation process bar i saw the
same as always the list with my native and english languages at the top
of the list. Everything seems to be alright. But keyboard layout never
switches.

[Bug 988185] [NEW] Misleading text about non-zero value for read error rate indicating a problem

2012-04-25 Thread Alexey Romanov
Public bug reported:

SMART Data dialog says about Read Error Rate:

A non-zero value indicates a problem with either the disk surface or
read/write heads.

However, value shown is apparently a raw value which can't be
interpreted in this way: http://askubuntu.com/questions/45373/is-disk-
utility-reliable

At any rate, showing a very large value along with this text and Good
assessment is confusing.

[Bug 796346] Re: part of desktop background image on top of gnome-panel

2011-11-08 Thread Alexey Baskinov
On-screen notification (IM, mail, media-player events) “deleted” a part
of Skype window's main area making the desktop background visible. There
was a similar issue with some other application, unfortunately I can't
remember which one. Maybe that's some different bug, but I feel it is
somehow related to the aforementioned.

@ bobbib: the bug reoccurred and VT switching helped.

[Bug 796346] Re: part of desktop background image on top of gnome-panel

2011-11-07 Thread Alexey Baskinov
Since it’s been mentioned, I have noticed that fragments of Firefox
context menus sometimes disappear (Linux Mint Katya, Firefox 7.0.1).

Sometimes a part of the bottom panel disappears when a Firefox context
menu is opened. An interesting instance of the bug occurred while I was
writing this. I opened Firefox's context menu and a fragment of the
workspace switcher disappeared and reappeared only after I closed a
Nautilus window from the window list applet on the bottom panel.

@ bobbib: as promised, I tested «gnome-panel --replace ». In my case it
also works fine. Thanks.

[Bug 796346] Re: part of desktop background image on top of gnome-panel

2011-11-07 Thread Alexey Baskinov
No statistics, unfortunately, but I think it's a Firefox related
problem. My impression is that of all the applications I use (here are
some of them: Keepassx, Xmind, Quanta plus, GIMP, Gedit, LibreOffice
Writer, Poedit, Filezilla) only Firefox has caused memorable bug
occurrences. :-) Will keep an eye on the situation.

Further to my previous message:
1. the missing fragment of the workspace switcher was NOT under just closed
context menu — it was far away from it;
2. the bottom panel redrawing also takes place if a new item appears in the
workspace switcher.

The same bug occurs on a machine running Linux Mint with Gnome and the
Ambance theme. killall gnome-panel helps to solve the problem. The
computer uses ATI Mobility Radion HD 3400 and a proprietary driver FGLRX
for ATI/AMD cards suggested by the driver utility.

Public bug reported:

When eog is open in full screen mode, and the image viewed is modified
by another program, a notification is displayed prompting with Reload

a toolbar appearing partially over the prompt and hiding the button. See
attached screenshot for details.

[Bug 827038] [NEW] gnome system monitor hangs after the processes tab is clicked on

2011-08-15 Thread Alexey Baskinov
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and gnome-system-monitor 2.28.1-1ubuntu1. I
expected to see the Processes tab contents after I clicked on it.
Instead, the application hung: other tabs, menu items and Close button
of the window didn't respond to clicks, the charts froze. The issue
occurred only after clicking on the Processes tab: the rest of the
tabs as well as menu items didn't cause the hanging. The application
could be forced to quit with the help of Force Quit button, the
killall command and on system prompt. I could only relaunch the
monitor after closing it with the killall command. The bug reoccurred
after every system restart. The same bug was caused by ticking Solaris
Mode in the Processes tab of the configuration interface. The rest of
the check-boxes didn't cause the issue. Complete re-installation didn't
help.

[Bug 820980] [NEW] a part of the bottom panel missing after a context menu is launched

2011-08-04 Thread Alexey Baskinov
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 11.04. The version of gnome-panel is
1:2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5. I expected the bottom panel of the desktop (see the
attached image) and the workspace switcher to remain intact during and
after I launch the context menu of an application. Instead, after I
right-clicked and before the menu appeared a part of the bottom panel
right under the context menu vanished making the underlying fragment of
the desktop background image visible. The part of the panel was missing
after closing the context menu until I restored its background by right-
clicking on the bottom panel, launching its context menus.

[Bug 694910] Re: Regression: patch to bug 539477 breaks Super+P keybindings

2011-07-18 Thread Alexey A. Kiritchun
Hello there.

Please reopen this: silently breaking things is bad, even if it fixes
some other things. This keybinding should at least be visible in
Keyboard Shortcuts prefs.
