[Bug 1021720] [NEW] gedit hangs opening some files
Public bug reported: When opening some files gedit hangs and consume a lot of RAM memory and then swap memory. The system became unresponsive. The only solution is to kill gedit or reboot. Generally this happens with big files, I do not know exactly the limit but probably files with more than ~5000 lines. Sometimes gedit manage to open the file, but generally it hangs. Sometimes after killing gedit firefox is also un-responsive and a pop-up window (or 2 or 3) complain about a script that is running, the name of the script running is a long strings of character with js extension. this firefox message appears only when gedit hangs, but sometimes gedit hangs and this firefox message do not appear. Please let me know if you need more information. I use gedit all the time, to program and to edit files and this bug is really annoying. [Bug 946095] Re: font not visible in terminal plugin
The problem is that the terminal plugin is JUST using the font color specified for the gnome-terminal, BUT is not using the background gnome- terminal color. The gedit-terminal SHOULD match the gnome-terminal color schema. The rationale for what I am saying is as follow: 1) It should be simple to fix 2) It will make the Ubuntu apps more integrated out-of-the-box 3) There is not a simple way to change the gedit-terminal color schema (dconf-editor should be used), or as Vadim suggest the gnome-terminal color should be changed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946095 Title: font not visible in terminal plugin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gedit/+bug/946095/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 931213] [NEW] gedit hangs opening .pdb files
Public bug reported: I think gedit has problem opening Protein Data Bank files (.pdb) If gedit is launched from the terminal this two messages appear when gedit hangs (gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in buffer (THR), this should not happen! (gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in buffer (ATOM), this should not happen! THR and ATOM are strings present in the .pbd files gedit become unresponsive and in few seconds the memory usage of gedit is more than 1 Gb (according to system monitor) and hence all programs become unresponsive. The only solution is to kill gedit or force shutdown of Ubuntu. The problem seems to be random and not related to the size of the file. Reloading and open file also (sometimes) hangs gedit.
