[Bug 1021720] [NEW] gedit hangs opening some files

2012-07-06 Thread aloctavodia
Public bug reported:

When opening some files gedit hangs and consume a lot of RAM memory and
then swap memory. The system became unresponsive. The only solution is
to kill gedit or reboot. Generally this happens with big files, I do
not know exactly the limit but probably files with more than ~5000
lines. Sometimes gedit manage to open the file, but generally it hangs.
Sometimes after killing gedit firefox is also un-responsive and a pop-up
window (or 2 or 3) complain about a script that is running, the name of
the script running is a long strings of character with js extension.
this firefox message appears only when gedit hangs, but sometimes gedit
hangs and this firefox message do not appear.

Please let me know if you need more information. I use gedit all the
time, to program and to edit files and this bug is really annoying.
Thanks in advance

[Bug 946095] Re: font not visible in terminal plugin

2012-03-20 Thread aloctavodia
The problem is that the terminal plugin is JUST using the font color
specified for the gnome-terminal, BUT is not using the background gnome-
terminal color. The gedit-terminal SHOULD match the gnome-terminal color
schema. The rationale for what I am saying is as follow:

1) It should be simple to fix
2) It will make the Ubuntu apps more integrated out-of-the-box
3) There is not a simple way to change the gedit-terminal color schema
(dconf-editor should be used), or as Vadim suggest the gnome-terminal color
should be changed.

[Bug 931213] Re: gedit hangs opening .pdb files

2012-02-13 Thread aloctavodia
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 624076 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/624076

I recently notice that the problem has nothing to do with the following
error:

(gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in
buffer (ATOM), this should not happen!

I get this message for other pdb files but gedit does not hangs. The
gedit problem is seems to be caused by other error, hence this bug is
not a duplicate of bug #624076 and also I only detect this problem when
opening pdb files.

[Bug 624076] Re: (gedit:4985): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in buffer...

2012-02-13 Thread aloctavodia
I have reported a duplicated of this bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/931213). In my personal
experience I only have problems using Protein Data Bank files (pdb). I use
gedit all the time and i work with pdb files almost all the time, hence now it
is almost impossible to work. I would really appreciate if someone comes with a
solution.
Thanks in advance.

[Bug 931213] [NEW] gedit hangs opening .pdb files

2012-02-12 Thread aloctavodia
Public bug reported:

I think gedit has problem opening Protein Data Bank files (.pdb)

If gedit is launched from the terminal this two messages appear when
gedit hangs

(gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in
buffer (THR), this should not happen!

(gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove in
buffer (ATOM), this should not happen!

THR and ATOM are strings present in the .pbd files

gedit become unresponsive and in few seconds the memory usage of gedit is more
than 1 Gb (according to system monitor) and hence all programs become
unresponsive. The only solution is to kill gedit or force shutdown of Ubuntu.
The problem seems to be random and not related to the size of the file.
Reloading and open file also (sometimes) hangs gedit.

anywhere else. For me isn't listed anywhere

but may be a duplicate of bug Bug #536670 , but i don´t get why they said there

The problem is still there. I´m using evince 2.29.91 on lucid alpha3.
Evince has serious problems to properly select text. Okular (KDE) can
handle this without mistakes and also allow highlighting and adding
notes.

2009-02-07 Thread aloctavodia
My bad the error mesagge Failed to retrieve share list from server
popup because i use a bookmark to conect to the other machine during the
update the IP of the oder machine was changed. I change the IP and now
everything is working perfect. NOW Totem IS ABLE to play files through
smb. I guess this could help to understand what the problem was and

[Bug 190112] [NEW] wrong order of reproduction on mp3 player

2008-02-07 Thread aloctavodia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

not a real bug, but a really annoying feature of nautilus.

Many mp3 players (especially cheap and generic ones) doesn´t sort files,
instead the files are readed in the same order they were written.
Nautilus does not copy files in alphabetic order, so when you reproduce
files on your mp3 player they are not in alphabetic order.

Littles details like this are very important for common users and are
the ones that help an OS to become human-friendly.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
