This was a terrible idea to remove the customization and preferences
feature.

I have a netbook and the notifications take up WAY too much space on the
screen.

A simple menu to make them smaller would have been a great idea. It's a
shame to see a useful feature removed because "the preferences menu was
crammed."

I'm pretty sure others have the same problem with this... And it's a
shame, since I know ubuntu is trying to appeal to the netbook market.

Could you please tell me how to "reenable it with alacarte?" Is alacarte
a program or  "À la carte". If it is  À la carte, then, what is the name
of the package?
