[Bug 350223] Re: Cannot unmount

2009-03-28 Thread bert07
In Interpid you cannot write an iso file to a mounted disk. You have to unmount
it first.
So: it HAS a function. And an important one.

Okay. Brasero can write to a mounted disk.
But the standard burner in Interprid could not.
That was not Brasero.

[Bug 153706] Re: Any user can reboot or shutdown computer when screen is locked

2009-03-06 Thread bert07
I see that something has been done according to this bug, because since
yesterday I get a very annoying screen whenever I want to restart or
shut down my system.

I'm NOT happy with this. Not happy at all. See also bug #195989.

If I should need a warning screen whenever I wanted to start or close a
program, or restart or close a system, I would have chosen for Vista.

At least implement something that this can be turned off. Please?
Or try to reconsider the solution you found for this bug.

[Bug 153706] Re: Any user can reboot or shutdown computer when screen is locked

2009-03-06 Thread bert07
As I am (and I'm sure this is so for many systems) the sole user of my
system, there is no need what so ever for these warning screens and
certainly not for the delay question before shutting down or restarting.

[Bug 153706] Re: Any user can reboot or shutdown computer when screen is locked

2009-03-06 Thread bert07
I did forget to mention that I was talking about Jaunty.
And indeed, I always logout, restart, shut down, from there, as I assume most
people do.

In case you wouldn't yet have seen it in Jaunty, the menu

System Shut down
System Log out
System Restart

has disappeared.
Most probably just because almost every one uses the Switch users or shut
down thingy to logout, restart, shut down.

Of course, I might be wrong.

Correction:

it is not

System Restart

but

System Lock screen

that also disappeared in Jaunty. And the previous mentioned.

[Bug 29061] Re: Theme schemas corrupted or missing

2007-05-09 Thread bert07
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 50150 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50150

I'm getting tired of this. I lost all my window borders again for the X
time. But... I might have a clue now why, or better, when it happens. I'm not
really certain, but I believe it happens when I occidentally log out or close
down when there are still some windows open.
Also, it does not seem that it has anything to do what is installed, because
replacing the /home directory with a backup fixes the problem. Though I would
like to hear a solution which does not involve replacing the /home directory
with a backed up one.

solution for the bug, is it?

Forgot to tell (2) Also the window borders tab (Theme manager
  customise window borders) disappeared.

I think you can fix this by going to Synaptic and choosing to
reinstall all the gnome packages that you currently have installed.

Well, since the last update this morning (update-manager and update-
manager-core) I'm also having problems with the Theme manager. 4 Times
today, after reboot, I say that the windows where changed (no more
borders), that the workspaces were gone (??), and that the screen had
somehow moved up. All windows opened with the window top bar laying over
the top panel so you couldn't reach the panel no more, unless you closed
that window.

I don't know how to work around this, so each time I reinstalled an
image backup of my Home partition.

Can somebody fix this please?
