[Bug 523250] [NEW] CD in drive causes Nautilus to crash

2010-02-17 Thread cmnorton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Please do not mark this bug invalid. It is reproducible. If media is
inserted in my CD/DVD reader/writer, and I try to use Places on the
Ubuntu menu (nautilus), then Nautilus crashes pretty quickly. I did look
at other bugs, and one with CD/USB in the title was marked invalid;
otherwise I would have attached to that bug.

[Bug 212017] Re: Evince/CUPS Could Not Print Tax Document

2008-04-08 Thread cmnorton
Sebastian Bacher wrote
cmnorton, could you try using an hardy desktop cd if your issues is fixed
there? does printing to a file works correctly?

I cannot use the Hardy Heron Desktop CD on my Thinkpad T61p for -- I
believe -- the same reasons I had to have a text mode installation for
this same system. The screen eventually goes black, a little CD activity
can be heard, and then all is silent.

I've got a less graphically fussy test system, and I'll try that
sometime this week.

Sorry that I cannot test this out with Hardy Heron right now.

[Bug 212017] Re: Evince/CUPS Could Not Print Tax Document

2008-04-08 Thread cmnorton
As requested, I tried downloading the Virginia DOT form. It printed. (I
have another 7.10 bug listing the PDF would not print.) However, the
form is pretty much unusable, because a lot of text is garbled. This was
printed on an HP 4200, using the Hardy desktop CD.

[Bug 212017] Re: Evince/CUPS Could Not Print Tax Document

2008-04-07 Thread cmnorton
wpshooter, I understand you have missing characters and can print the
file. I cannot even print the file using Evince.

I am updating this, because I've tried KPDF printing directly from the
site and using a downloaded copy. Both appear to print properly. So, it
seems at least there is an Evince problem worth persuing.

[Bug 212017] Re: Evince/CUPS Could Not Print Tax Document

2008-04-06 Thread cmnorton
Please note that I reported a bug based on the post in Ubuntu forums.
When I printed the Virginia tax form, it would not print at all. It
wound up in my CUPS queue as stopped. In other words, I never got to the
point of missing letters.

[Bug 212017] Re: Evince/CUPS Could Not Print Tax Document

2008-04-06 Thread cmnorton
Here is the downloaded version (PDF) of the form 760.

However, please note understand that this downloadeded version/PDF
does not have the missing characters.

It is only when the file is attempted to be printed from the VDOT site
that the characters are missing.

Thanks. wpshooter

In my case, I could not print the downloaded PDF or trying to print from
the VDOT site. In either case, the print job got stuck in my queue as
stopped. I have an HP 1320, a fairly common printer.

[Bug 208002] [NEW] Evolution Conduit Selection Required For Palm Synch

2008-03-27 Thread cmnorton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu 7.10
Evolution 12.2.1

No special configurations have been added.

In order to synch my Palm Trio m150 with Evolution I have to do one of
two things.

1) Either start Evolution; select Edit - Synchronization Options;
select the conduit; and close

or

2) Select System - Preferences - Palm Devices, and select the conduit
and close.

The synch works in either case but won't unless I prime the pump.

I believe this is a bug, because once the conduit has been set up; the
synch should happen, and it certainly should happen if Evolution is
running.

[Bug 194173] [NEW] Evolution Won't Allow Setting /var/mail mailbox

2008-02-21 Thread cmnorton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I want to run fetchmail, and let Evolution grab my email from
/var/mail/cnorton. When I try to do this, Evolution won't let me specify
an existing mail file created by fetchmail because it already exists, or
won't let me create the file from scratch, because of permissions. I
believe this is a bug, but would also like to find instructions on how
to set this up.

This is on Ubuntu 7.10 and Evolution 2.12.1.
