[Bug 337264] [NEW] Jaunty: Evolution's Sending Options page is set up incorrectly

2009-03-03 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

On First Run Wizard the Sending options page is incorrectly sized and
placed into a scroll window.

This means you only see a tiny part of the overall screen. Receiving
options which is almost identical is not effected.

I'll attach the screenshot. My resolution is 1440x900 on a 19 monitor.

Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

[Bug 336696] [NEW] Jaunty: Rhythmbox last.fm plugin stop on track 5 if you don't start on track 1

2009-03-02 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

RELEASE: Jaunty
CD/DVD VARIANT: 32bit ubuntu desktop cd
ISO BUILD: 20090226

SYMPTOMS: When you start the last.fm plugin in rhythmbox it lists 5
tracks if you start playback from track 2 rather than track 1 it stops
playback at the end of the fifth track rather than listing the next 5 to
be played

CAUSE: Unknown

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Start Rhythmbox
2. Start the Last.fm plugin (add username and password and download codecs as
required)
3. Start playback from track 2 rather than 1
4. Watch it stop after track 5

WORK AROUND:
If you now select the first track the player will fly through the list putting
no access signs up and then resume normal playback. IE it download the listing
for the next 5 tracks and playback resumes.

i don't think it's duplicate. in the other bug the issue is the menu
display of deamon or osd of the notifications. THIS bug report is about
the actual settings that are not being applied after changing them.

and i ONLY have one menu entry which is the pop up notification

 thanks

It is a duplicate. NotifyOSD has no means currently to change position.
The menu entry only alters the old notification system and so has been
removed or should be being removed from the menu to stop confusion.

2008-09-29 Thread davmor2
Re-opened

RELEASE: Intrepid
CD/DVD VARIANT: 32bit Ubuntu desktop cd
ISO BUILD: 20080929

SYMPTOMS: Compiz prevents the screensaver kicking in properly

CAUSE: Compiz. If I switch compiz off it works as expected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1/ Install Ubuntu on a system with intel gfx
2/ Let it run until the screensaver kicks in
3/ watch the screensaver exit almost instantly.

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: gnome-screensaver = compiz

[Bug 272097] Re: cd-rom option in places menu does nothing when running from live cd

2008-09-22 Thread davmor2
Wouter

I believe this is one of those bugs that simply can't be fixed
currently.

Because the cdrom is mounted (almost virtually as I uderstand it). I
can't then be mounted again by the system because the device is in use.
However the setting is required by the system once installed and it
can't be removed otherwise there wouldn't be a mount point once
installed.

Hope that helps

[Bug 223603] [NEW] Image editors can't display images on obex devices

2008-04-28 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Eye Of Gnome fails to display images on an obex device. In order to
view an image you need to first import it to your computer then use an
image viewer to look at it.

Expected result: I would expect to be able to connect to a device (a
phone for example) and be able to view the images on the device.

This is in Hardy. I'm not sure whether the issue is because of gvfs or
obex.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: main-menu

Rather than having to click on system then control-center. Couldn't we
just have it so clicking on system opened it? This would save double
clicks.

As there is a help button and a log off button on the task bar I don't
think these need duplicating on the system menu.

The only thin you may need to do is put the other help links in the
first window opened when clicking on the help button, or alternatively
turn the help button into a menu, or put the help stuff below commonly
used stuff in control center.

[Bug 83117] totem does change title on streaming media

2007-02-03 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I like streamtuner. So I install each time I test a new version of
Ubuntu. As it's default it calls for xmms. I don't particularly want
extra audio players on my machine so I change this to totem. However in
xmms the title of the playing track changes when a new track start,
however in totem this doesn't happen.

Steps to recreate:

1. Install streamtuner/xmms.
2. using streamtuners default note the changing song titles.
3. change the default setting in properties on streamtuner so it reads as totem
%q instead of xmms %q
4. hit the play button on streamtuner again and note that the song title
doesn't change.

The only reason I am marking this as a bug is because I believe this to
be something that would be expected from any player on any other os.
But mostly because if xmms can do this then I believe that it should
relatively easy to get the code into totem to allow it to do it.

Basically yes it is a bug. However it is not a bug that the Ubuntu devs
can work on. It is a bug in the main program. In order for the gparted
team to work on it they need to know about the bug. You will therefore
need to report it to gnome.bugzilla.org. They may well ask for more
info which is why you will need to report it. I hope that makes it
clearer for you.

[Bug 79474] Re: [Edgy] Can't open audio files with rhythmbox

2007-01-19 Thread davmor2
Okay reading through the rhythmbox info and help. The only way you can
create a playlist and therefore play the audio is by selecting a track
from the library or audio source. Therefore the ability to play a track
directly doesn't exist which is obviously why the gnome team use totem
as the default player for audio.

As a result of this research there is currently nothing that the Ubuntu
team can do about this situation. My advice is to put your suggestion
to the gnome team in charge of Rhythmbox directly. This can be done by
following the instructions here
http://www.gnome.org/projects/rhythmbox/feedback.html

If you use Gnome Bugzilla to report your bug then please tag it to this
one so we can follow it's progress. Thank you for your report.

Do you have issues printing with any other programs or just this. I

Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs
page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If
that is the case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about
your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec

[Bug 68924] Inability to rename Mp3 player in Ubuntu...

2006-11-02 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

My old MP3MAN 1/2 gig mp3 player is able to be renamed in Windows but
not in Ubuntu. I'm not sure if this is something that all players can
do but it is something that could be well worth looking into (as I don't
have a windows machine my mate renamed mine and I have a new samsung
player now, for it's ogg support). Effectively in windows you right
click on the player icon and hit rename and the player retains that name
when you plug into any machine (I will send a screen shot) so mine now
says DAVES MP3 rather than mp3man.

This is not an urgent bug by any means but it is one thing I noticed
that can't yet be done. I want to see bug 1 stripped out as soon as
possible but it is always the little things that annoy people.

[Bug 65254] Request/bug about login screens.

2006-10-11 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Many windows users are used to clicking on an icon in order to type in
their password to login to their machine.(the bug) I therefore would
like to request an official Ubuntu login screen with browser. The
only one currently available by default is Happy Gnome with Browser
which is not in keeping with Ubuntu's nice new caramel look so doesn't
lend itself much to Ubuntu.(the other bug)

Is there any chance that with Edgy+1 this could be remedied as I believe
it would lend itself better to windows users who wish to switch. It is
a small point in an otherwise near perfect Distro but I believe it is
one that could win over new users, the more familiar they are with the
look of the OS the more likely they are to switch, but I could be wrong.

Question how can it be that ogg isn't supported but mpeg is?

Running on an amd64 bit ubuntu dapper install.

[Bug 37727] See Ubuntu in examples

2006-04-02 Thread davmor2
Public bug reported:

Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I have noticed a bug in the 64bit examples on the Live Cd of flight 6.
I understand that Firefox is favoured but on the oo-presenting-ubuntu.odp
epiphany is seen in the Internet list in applications, however in reality on
the Live cd it isn't there.
I feel this is misleading for new users who have never used ubuntu or linux. I
believe if it is in the examples then it needs to be installed by default on
both the Live cd and the Install cd or removed from the .odp demo.
This is purely for asthetical reasons if I were to show the demo and talk on it
and the the first slide that shows the appications list I have to explain that
Epiphany isn't installed by default so ignore it, it doesn't look good on
Ubuntu, which is what I believe the spit and polish extra time is for.
