I know that 14.04 is out. However, it has regressions for many people
and so 12.04 is still in wide use. The fact that this is still a bug on
a new system after 2 years is truly sad.

Fix confirmed for me. nvidia 7950 with P35 chipset and core2duo. The
last major bug for me is now fixed.

occurs. I believe it is more an application timeout issue. With a
stock feisty hosts file, some applications take a little longer to start
than if you changed the hosts file as described. I timed it with
